  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

(below, I refer to earnest prayers from the hearts of honest saints) God’s answer is “Yes”, yes to His will, Even if we send Him erroneous news. He knows our hearts, of the pilgrim sort And thankfully edits our journalistic quotes, For try as we may, the objective eludes, Seeing as through a...
(for when celebrating the first coming of Messiah Jesus) One still small voice, from paper, leapt Into action, brought life to a dead spirit. “For God so loved”--how could it be?* A flicker of hope within self, to all around. Really, so personal? Can such goodness endure? But those thoughts...
Written after reading Luke 2:8-20, about the birth of Messiah (“the Christ”) Jesus. I imagined a hymn tune for it. While shepherds fires dispersed the wolves, The heavens opened sky, Then angels sang, explained the spark That brightened human eyes. They told of how a babe was born, Which bade...
(After viewing the leaf-strewn, wooded area in the back yard, a day after Thanksgiving) Near woods, unashamed, Regal trees above downed leaves, Years-old timber down. Too early to dream? Not to those who know green comes As sure as frost came. John’s new Heaven,^ near: The fallenness shouts...

Judges 7:4-7 (NKJV - bold text is mine) 4 But the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Then it will be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ the same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to...

Psalm 34:1-2 (1) I will bless Adonai at all times; his praise will always be in my mouth. (2) When I boast, it will be about Adonai; the humble will hear of it and be glad. (CJB) Are there styles of music in the church that make us wary? How about the mannerisms of some as they praise or sing...

Lord, “all things are your servants”. ^ Brethren, “all things are yours”! ^^ The above borrows from the two footnoted Scripture references. The beauty of looking at these verses is that whereas in Psalms creation is described as serving God’s purposes, the Corinthians reference describes all...
Love is a brave thing, unconditional in sway,^ inflexibly pure. Warrior-like, love defends to bring a peace in all things, takes on hurt, harms not. We may hesitate, balk at swift, dark tides.* We admit and thrive. Unlovingness flees when we show mercy by faith, when dreams of calm wait.**...
When we read Revelation 2:4, we should ask, "What does it mean to leave our first love?" Tying Revelation 2:4 to Ephesians 3:14 gives us some clues: love = bold text our ongoing reverence and repentant hearts = italicized text remembrance of the heights to which the love of Christ has taken us...

For the bold texts below, I insert what the Interlinear reflects, instead of their English renderings. The NKJV English translations, to which we are accustomed, are "rooms" in Psalm 91 and "dwelling place" in John 14:2. Looking at the Interlinear definitions side-by-side, one sees that the...
I am not exaggerating when I say that I am undergoing a shaking. I am one of a group lay folk who each give a Bible study to Spanish speakers. My presentation is more like a sermon. I have, in a sense, felt pruned in preparing for these. I have been writing and writing my words. For many...
