175. Jesus in our hearts

It must have been so difficult for the people who know Jesus to recognize him in his new mission. Jesus changed according to their eyes. From one day to the next, Jesus is on a mission and he must be very different before them. He says and he does what others can’t do.

They perceive here and there fragments of what Jesus realizes and it’s difficult to place the few pieces of the puzzle in a frame, especially when there are many missing pieces. In addition, they may receive conflicting messages of what they hear about Jesus.

Even today, the ambient message about Jesus, in general, in the world, is sometimes discordant. But it’s sometimes easy to trust the fears, rather than what Jesus tells us and realizes.

The people from his home, watching him go, came to seize him because they said:
“He is out of his mind.” Mark, chapter 3, verse 21

They want to protect their idea of Jesus. They can’t imagine for a moment that Jesus entered another stage of his life.

It’s a bit like that when a person causes problems in an environment. If people don’t check the foundation of a person’s mission, fear may be taking hold of some people and it may further harm the mission, instead of helping to build a more just, better world, merciful and true.

If we begin, in the immediate future, a mission in the name of Jesus, there is a good chance that our surroundings will find us different. It’s also possible that some people won’t recognize who we are, since we’re experiencing a transformation by following Jesus. It is a sign that we’re moving forward and a testimony of our faith to them.

Let’s give them some time to join us and understand, in faith. Let’s pray that they will also discover Jesus in their hearts. Let’s give them time to adjust to this novelty.

It’s then necessary to meet with other people who have faith in Jesus, to truly enter the mission that allows us to live and achieve goodness.

Let’s listen, discern, then encourage and help those who evangelize honestly in the name of Christ, with Christ.

Are You Living for Jesus Christ?

“Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,
‘Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
on the day of testing in the wilderness,
where your fathers put me to the test
and saw my works for forty years.
Therefore I was provoked with that generation,
and said, “They always go astray in their heart;
they have not known my ways.”
As I swore in my wrath,
“They shall not enter my rest.”’
“Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today,’ that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. As it is said, ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.’” (Hebrews 3:7-15 ESV)

It is assumed that the apostle Paul wrote the book of Hebrews, so I will use his name as the author, but truly the author was God – Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit. And whoever it was who physically wrote down these words was just a servant of the Lord, a messenger of God whom God used to pen his words to us, his people.

Now the book of Hebrews appears to be written to the Hebrew Christians, which could have well included those who only professed faith in Jesus Christ but who were not committed to following him with their lives. For the wording indicates that these are those who are holy brethren, who share in the heavenly calling, and there is a warning here to them against falling away from the living God, which they could not do if they weren’t already in relationship with Jesus Christ. So it is safe for us to apply these words today to all who make a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord.

And the reason that we can safely apply these words to us who believe in Jesus Christ is that we are taught this kind of message all throughout the New Testament. For our salvation from sin is not a one-time decision we make to “believe in Jesus” and then we are good to go to heaven when we die, but regardless of how we live. For if our faith is genuine, we have died with Christ to sin and we have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness. But if sin is what we practice, we will not have eternal life.

So, if we have believed in Jesus Christ, in truth and in righteousness, then we are saved (past), we are being saved (present active), and we will be saved (future) when Jesus Christ returns for his faithful bride, which is when our salvation will be complete, and not until then, but provided that we continue in Christ in walks of faith and obedience to him and to his commands, and that we do not continue to walk in sin. For our salvation is progressive and it won’t be finished until we who are walking with him in obedience to him go to be with him for eternity.

And this is why, all throughout the New Testament, we are taught that we must walk (in conduct, in practice) in holiness and in righteousness and in obedience to our Lord and to his commands and no longer in sin if we want to have salvation from sin and the hope of eternal life with God. So what Hebrews 3 is teaching here is fully consistent with the whole of the teachings in the New Testament on the subjects of salvation from sin and eternal life with God. We must guard our hearts against getting spiritually lazy and slack, thinking our salvation is a sure thing, then end up falling away.

So we do need to pay close attention to these words, and we must guard our hearts against hardening our hearts against the Lord and against his commandments (New Covenant) and against falling back into sinful lifestyles, making sexual immorality, impurity, lying, cheating, stealing, and committing adultery, etc., what we practice, and not righteousness, and not obedience to our Lord, and not submission to him as Lord of our lives. For if we walk in deliberate and habitual sin, it won’t matter what we profess with our lips. We will not inherit eternal life with God.

So this is why we must exhort one another, as Christians, EVERY DAY, so that none of us may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. And the original confidence must be based in the truth of the Scriptures which teach that faith in Christ that is genuine results in us dying with Christ to sin and us now walking (in conduct, in practice) in holy living and in obedience to his commands, and not just once, but daily, in practice. So do not take this lightly, for walking in the truth results in eternal life with God.

To love and obey You only,
While we bow on bended knee,
As we humbly walk before You,
Serving freely; You to please.

Wrong Info given by Trump, After his Guilty Verdict

CNN Senior Legal Analyst Describes How The Trump Conviction Was A Political Hit Job

By Elie Honig, a former federal and state prosecutor and a contributor to CAFE. And CNN senior legal analyst.

1. "The judge donated money... in plain violation of a rule prohibiting New York judges from making political donations—to a pro-Biden, anti-Trump political operation."

2. Alvin Bragg boasted on the campaign trail in an overwhelmingly Democrat county, “It is a fact that I have sued Trump over 100 times.”

3. "Most importantly, the DA’s charges against Trump push the outer boundaries of the law and due process."

4. "The charges against Trump are obscure, and nearly entirely unprecedented. In fact, no state prosecutor — in New York, or Wyoming, or anywhere — has ever charged federal election laws as a direct or predicate state crime, against anyone, for anything. None. Ever."

5. The DA inflated misdemeanors past the statute of limitations and "electroshocked them back to life" by alleging the falsification of business records was committed 'with intent to commit another crime.'

6. "Inexcusably, the DA refused to specify what those unlawful means actually were — and the judge declined to force them to pony up — until right before closing arguments. So much for the constitutional obligation to provide notice to the defendant of the accusations against him in advance of trial."

7. "In these key respects, the charges against Trump aren’t just unusual. They’re bespoke, seemingly crafted individually for the former president and nobody else."

8. "The Manhattan DA’s employees reportedly have called this the “Zombie Case” because of various legal infirmities, including its bizarre charging mechanism. But it’s better characterized as the Frankenstein Case, cobbled together with ill-fitting parts into an ugly, awkward, but more-or-less functioning contraption that just might ultimately turn on its creator."

Did Christ die for the sin of unbelief ?

The work of the devil, which unbelief is, cannot render the work of Christ on a sinners behalf ineffective or futile. But thats exactly what people are saying when they claim Christ died for people who still perish in their sins because of unbelief Jn 8:24

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

That unbelief is satan's work producing unbelief is seen in a couple of verses. #1 2 Cor 4:3-4

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

#2 Lk 8:12

Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

So if Jesus died for a person for the intention of saving that person from their sins, and that person nevertheless dies in unbelief, and never believes and be saved, then the devil rendered Jesus purpose to save ineffective, and gains the victory over the Son of God concerning that soul. Thats why I dont believe a person Christ died for can die in their sins in unbelief !

Time frames that end on the day that Jesus Returns

The kjv of Daniel 9:27 says in the midst of the week, not midpoint.
The scriptural precedent for an approximate time is Revelation 8:1, the Seventh Seal which is;.... about a half hour in heaven.

In the midst is the same as the mid point, proved by Daniel 9:27a....with one half spent....[of the 7 year treaty.]
This means what it says; there is no room to add or subtract anything.

Only those with weird and wonderful theories of adding days before the AoD happens, have the need to do that.

Revelation 11 and Revelation 12

The three 'spirits like frogs', will do that job. Rev 16:13
The reason is that Satan knows Jesus is coming back and his time has nearly run out.
Why should the kings of the earth care if Satan's time was nearly run out ? What makes you think they even are aware that Satan is present within abomination of desolation statue image making it appear alive and speak ?

keras, what you are missing is that there has to be a visible physical threat that scares the kings of the earth to take action to gather their armies at Armageddon to make war on Jesus.

Our Awesome God

On May 25, 2011, I was sitting on the sofa in the evening, spending some quiet time alone with God before I went to bed, and I was asking him to speak to my heart whatever he might want to say to me.

The words to one of the Psalms began going through my mind about praising God, so I walked over to the (piano) keyboard, sat down to play, and the Lord gave me this song about praising our awesome God.

As the Lord gave me the words, I sang them back to him in worship and in praise. The words read just like a conversation, which I was having with my Lord in which I was thanking him for who he is and for all that he has done for us in saving us and in providing us with the Holy Spirit to be our comforter and our counselor.

What is the human soul technically?

From my studies, a soul is the union of a spirit and a body.

Genesis 2:7 KJV
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

breathed = spirit

There are three elements or parts:

1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The spirit and soul can be separated and, therefore, distinguished from each other. They are not the same:

Hebrews 4:12 KJV
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Watchmen Nee has an excellent study on this topic in his book "The Spiritual Man."

Most teachers hold that the spirit is the identity of a man.
"I am a spirit, I have a soul, I live in a body."

I believe it the soul is seat of your identity
"I am a soul, I have a spirit and a body."
Thank you so much for the gem of thruth

The meaning of God exists as three persons

To be simplistic and explain shorter the point is that since the word of God came to them that gave them power and called them gods because by giving that power they are representing Him according to the title that God gives that is appropriate. In the same manner it is fitting more for whom the Father sanctified and sent being the Son of God as He is that part of Him begotten coming from Him to be accepted as God to be regarded for who He is special as they because of works and to be believed by Him because of His works that only God can do that He is who He says He is.

To Save Those Eagerly Waiting for Him

“Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” (Hebrews 9:23-28 ESV)

I admit, when it comes to the book of Hebrews, I am no scholar. I find parts of it very difficult to understand, but other parts of it are much easier for me to follow. And I think a lot of that is because I was never a Jew and I obviously did not live on the earth at the time of Jesus’ death and resurrection, when God did away with the Old Covenant liturgical, ceremonial, sacrificial, purification, and dietary laws and restrictions, including the requirement of circumcision. So, I did not experience, as the Jews did, this transition from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant.

So, to the best of my understanding, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I will share with you what I believe is the message here in this passage of Scripture that is for us today who believe in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of our lives. And the main theme of the book of Hebrews, I believe, is to help the Hebrew Christians to transition from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant. So the author of Hebrews (possibly Paul) detailed for them how things were under the Old Covenant, versus how they are now under the New Covenant, to help them to make that transition, for it was difficult.

But that is not the only theme of the book, for it also talks much about holy living and self-sacrifice and what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. For example, in chapters 3-4 we learn that if we hear the voice of the Lord that we are not to harden our hearts as the Israelites did in the wilderness when the majority of them died because of their rebellion against the Lord and because of their deliberate and habitual sins against the Lord and their unwillingness to repent of their sins and to obey God. And so God said that those who rebelled and who did not repent would not enter his eternal rest.

We who believe in Christ are instructed here to exhort one another (within the body of Christ) every day so that none of us will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. And if we hear his voice speaking to us that we are not to harden our hearts in rebellion against him. For if sin is what we practice, and not righteousness, and not godly living, and not obedience to our Lord and to his commands, then we will not have eternal life with God. We will not enter into his eternal rest because of our disobedience, which the Bible describes for us here as “unbelief.” So, belief in Jesus Christ = obedience, and if we refuse to obey the Lord, heaven will not be our eternal destiny.

Back to Hebrews 9.. under the Old Covenant the temple of God was a physical building where the Jews went to worship the Lord and to do what God required of them in the form of sacrifices and such. And they had human priests who made sacrifices to God for the forgiveness of people’s sins, but that was only temporary. But when Jesus Christ gave his life up for us on that cross, it was to die for all sins for all time so that we do not have to have human priests any longer to make sacrifices for our sins. And now the temple of God is Jesus Christ and the body of Christ, his church.

The Old Covenant requirements were just a shadow of what was to come, which was Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:17). Now Jesus Christ is our high priest. He entered into the “Holy of Holies” once and for all to make sacrifice for the sins of the people of the world, but not into that which was a physical place on the earth, but heaven itself. And he died on a cross taking upon himself the sins of the entire world for all time, and he put our sins to death with him so that by God-persuaded faith in him we might die with him to sin and now walk in holiness and obedience to his commands, by his grace.

Now when Jesus Christ came to the earth the first time it was to deal with sin, i.e. it was for the purpose that he would one day die on a cross, putting our sins to death with him, so that one day we would die with him to sin and be raised with him to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness. By faith in him we are crucified with him in death to sin so that we will no longer let sin reign in our mortal bodies. For if sin is what we obey, it leads to death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, its end is eternal life with God.

So, when Jesus comes back to the earth a second time, it is not to bear the sins of the world as he did the first time, but now it will be to save those of us who are eagerly waiting for him. But those of us who are eagerly waiting for him must be those of us who have died with him to sin, who are dying to sin daily, by the Spirit, and who are walking in obedience to his commands, in practice. For our salvation will not be complete until Jesus comes to take us home, and we will only go to be with him for eternity if we are living for him today in walks of obedience and no longer walking in sin.

For we are all going to stand before the Lord one day and he is going to judge each one of us according to our works, our deeds, our practices. And many will stand before him claiming him as Lord of their lives, and claiming all the things they did in his name, but he is going to say to them, “I never knew you. Depart from me you workers of lawlessness.” Why? Because, like the Israelites in the wilderness, they did not obey the Lord but they went their own way, instead, and they made sin their practice, and not obedience to the Lord Jesus. So repent of your sins today and obey Jesus.

Walking daily with my Savior
brings me joy.
Loving Father; precious Jesus;
He’s my Savior and my Lord.
Gently leads me; follow Him.
I’ve invited Him within.
Now abiding in His presence,
oh, what peace.
From my self-life
He has brought me,
By His mercy, full release.

Hope and comfort,
peace and safety Jesus brings
When I daily bow before Him;
Obey freely; do His will.
Follow Him where’er He leads.
Listen to Him; His words heed.
Now obeying his words fully,
oh, what love
That He gives me
through salvation,
By His Spirit, from above.

Loving Father; precious Jesus,
He’s my friend.
With my Savior, by His Spirit,
I will endure to the end.
Share the gospel, tell what’s true.
Witness daily; His will do.
Tell the world of how their Savior
bled and died.
On a cruel cross He suffered
So that we might be alive.

Mark of the Beast

smh. If the temple that John was instructed to measure merely symbolic of the church, then why would it have an outer court?
That symbolizes where those who are outside the church are located.

And if the temple were the temple in heaven not earth, then why were the Gentiles trampling it underfoot? The passage only makes sense if the temple in Jerusalem is rebuilt.
That is a symbolic reference to unbelievers persecuting those who are in the church.

How can you miss the symbolism in Revelation 11. Taking it literally makes no sense. Look at this...

Revelation 11:1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.

John was told to "measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.". Do you really think he was told to measure a physical temple, physical altar and "them that worship therein"? Why would he do that? And how could he literally measure "them that worship therein"? Is he measuring everyone's height or something? Think about this.

Help me find a denomination!!!

There are two important figures in a church...

1. Senior Pastor
2. Worship Leader

It seems that there are good and bad leaders wherever you go these days. I would first try to find the confidence in the leadership before joining any church.
That thought was gotten from the following sermon...

Maybe you should put me on "ignore". And I will do the same for you.

Are you aware of how to put someone on your ignore list ? I have several on my list.
I don't ignore your words, I just ignore your charts. I don't need to put you on ignore in order to ignore your charts. No one is stopping you from ignoring me if that's what you want to do.

I wish I were a believer, but...

Welcome to CF.

I was born in China and received atheistic education from birth. In fact, it is difficult for Chinese people to get rid of atheism. My grandfather was a local Islamic leader, although he was very secular. My father had completely embraced atheism, which was his education system after the age of 10. It was also very difficult for me to accept monotheism. I explored the Greek philosophical system and rationally accepted monotheism(philosophy meaning). Christianity and Judaism helped me spiritually enter the monotheistic religion of Abraham.

I hope you have a rich and colorful spiritual exploration journey.

The perpetual virginity of Mary

You likely know this already, but the "Gospel of James" dated 2-3rd C. looks to me like a fictional account of Mary that was mixed in with other Greek and Coptic apocryphal manuscripts. IMO the Coptics are borderline cultic, since they (maybe not all) accept fictional literature like The Book of Enoch into their canon. This "Gospel of James" teaches the perpetual virginity of Mary in its narrative. It is possible IMO that this and/or other invented stories about Mary were simply believed by the ECFs, in spite of the fact that the NT implies a different narrative.

It begs the question why do people accept apocryphal literature as true, rather than the scripture itself? Like the movie "The Ten Commandments," fictional stories are more exciting, and therefore more read, than the true documentaries.

But once I read a quote from Justin Martyr that implied the perpetual virginity of Mary, although I'm not inclined to look it up right now. He lived about 200 years prior to Jerome, who is said to be the first to teach on the subject. It is also said that no ECF prior to Jerome taught the dogma, so the tradition is mostly attributed to Jerome.
There's a lot of apocryphal (and some of it possibly fictional) literature, but that does not explain why already very early (at least 2nd century CE) people held the belief of Mary's perpetual virginity.

Whether people had or developed this belief, it would have been consistent at that time with the writings available (New Covenant books), oral tradition on history of the Apostles, early church, etc..

Personally I don't belief in Mary's perpetual virginity but not for the usual reasons that are given in Protestant circles: the argument that the Gospels indicate Mary had other children because the words 'brother/sister' can ONLY mean direct first-line brother/sister. There is sufficient evidence those words could also refer to wider family relatives like half-brothers/sisters/cousins.

Furthermore, the usual Protestant hypothesis that Mary had other children cannot comfortably explain the emergence of the doctrine of Mary's perpetual virginity so early in church history. If indeed she had other children; if indeed e.g. James the leader of the church of Jerusalem (and author of the correspondingly named book) was a full brother of Jesus (this would have been a widely-known fact) - it would have been unexpected or even nearly impossible for people to start thinking Mary remained a virgin forever and that Joseph never consummated the marriage. That simply would make no sense.

Therefore I think the assumption that Yeshua remained Mary's only son can better explain the emergence of this doctrine. Only in that case people eventually could have started to hypothesize that she remained a virgin forever. The text in Matthew 1:24-25 saying Joseph didn't consummate the marriage until Yeshua's birth emphasizes the abstinence, but does not necessarily guarantee the consummation after His birth. Personally I certainly would expect Joseph to have consummated the marriage because this would be simply an honourable thing to do and also the right of the wife under Mosaic Law. Only the church's later thoughts about the inherent 'evilness' of sex (which is very unjewish) would have created pressure and desire to hypothesize that Mary never had any sex at all.

For me, one of the main indicators Mary had no other children besides Yeshua is His instruction from the cross in wich He commits His mother to John as his mother, and vice-versa John to His mother as her son. This only makes sense it there were no other children who could look after Mary, otherwise Yeshua's statement would be a significant insult to his siblings. Yeshua clearly commits His mother into the care of John; that's impossible if there were other siblings alive.

Be careful in discarding 'fictional literature' like the Book of Enoch, because the Bible book Jude (in Jude 1:14-15) refers to 1 Enoch 1:9. If you deem the Book of Enoch without value, you indirectly also invalidate the letter of Jude as being trustworthy scripture.
