Why is God silent? Many of the responses I have received to my posts state that the bible is not the literal word of God. Some Christians believe that Jesus spoke the true word of God, but that the bible is merely the product of the inaccurate memories of eyewitness of Jesus. Other Christians believe that there was at one time a perfect copy of the bible, but that it was not accurately transmitted. Some Christians believe that the Greek version of the New Testament is perfect but that the modern translations that we have are not accurate. Some Christians say the bible is not the literal word of God, but they can feel Jesus in their heart. What is your opinion? If you believe that the bible is not the literal word of God, why do you think that God would not give people his message? If you believe that there was a perfect copy of the bible at one time, but that it has not been transmitted correctly, why do think that God would allow his word to be corrupted? If you believe that the ancient Greek copies of the New Testament are perfect, but they have been incorrectly translated, why do you think that God would allow them to be incorrectly translated? Why did Jesus only appear in ancient Palestine? Why didnt Jesus visit the Americas, Australia, Japan, etc.? Why didnt the Native Americans know about Christianity before Columbus landed in Hispaniola in 1492? Why didnt the Australians know about Christianity before the arrival of Europeans there? If you believe you can feel Jesus in your heart, why didnt any Native Americans feel Jesus in their hearts, before hearing about Jesus from Europeans? Why is it that people of other faiths say similar things about their God(s)? If you believe that hell exists and that you need to believe in Jesus in order not to go to hell, do you believe that every Native American between the time of Jesus death and 1492 went to hell? Why would a just God allow that? The only answers to these questions I can come up with are that God does not exist, that he does not care if people know his message, or that he does not have the power to interact with the world. If God does not care that people know his message why should we care if we know his message? Why read the bible? Why go to church? Why teach the bible to your children?
