Do all liberals support abortion and LGBTQ+?

I'm liberal (although not necessarily in the American sense) and I think these are both complicated issues, and it's an oversimplification to say that I "support" them or not (I voted for LGBTQ and against abortion in the poll). When it comes to LGBTQ, I don't have anything against homosexual...

Just curious, how many of you identify as feminists?

Just thought about resurrecting an old thread :) I support gender equality, and I'd rather just identify as an egalitarian rather than a feminist. Feminism isn't really unified, there are many different forms of it, and some of them even call each other "not true feminists". It's a mess. Some...

Trump speaks on the Rittenhouse case

I’m not trolling, since I’m actually replying to the content of people’s posts, not quoting them and posting something that doesn’t address it at all.

    It doesn’t. Are you trolling?

Parents protesting 'critical race theory' identify another target: Mental health programs

But that’s exactly my point, you shouldn’t judge things by a name, because the name might be nice, while the actual thing might be the opposite. That’s why parents are right to distrust it.

Parents protesting 'critical race theory' identify another target: Mental health programs

My point is that it’s quite reasonable for parents to distrust school programs with nice sounding names, because these programs might not be so nice in practice. It happened in the past, with abuse victims getting punished and students being taught to divide people by color, all in the name of...

Trump speaks on the Rittenhouse case

From what I’ve read about the events in this case, it seems to me that he can easily be described as a hero. It was a dangerous place, but he still came there out of his own free will to help out. He offered medical support to people, cleaned up graffiti, and put out fires. Before he was...

Parents protesting 'critical race theory' identify another target: Mental health programs

I’m not American, but I’m not really surprised that American parents distrust the school system. The education system there seems to try really hard to be seen as untrustworthy. Years ago, there were a lot of horror stories about children who were abuse victims in schools getting punished as a...

    Not Guilty on all counts...

He was putting out a fire when he was attacked. That’s literally the opposite of "killer intent" on his side.

Reasonable Critiques of Progressive Racial Rhetoric

I don't think the majority of criticism of CRT is made in bad faith. Most people who criticize it tend to associate CRT with new racist concepts like "white fragility". CRT gets associated with racist views, so people who are against racism criticize CRT. If there is actually no association...

    CRT belief- personal vs systemic

I think it would be best if people just stopped using the label "critical race theory". No one really seems to agree on what it really means. People who are strongly opposed to it tend to associate "CRT" with the racist stuff like "white fragility" or how "whiteness" is a bad thing that has...

Humans have about 15 years left on this planet?

Even with climate change, Earth isn't going to become less habitable than Mars. So the idea of escaping from Earth to Mars doesn't really sound that good.

Milo establishes clinic to assist those leaving gay lifestyle.

Reverting to birth gender is called detransition, and it actually happens sometimes when the gender dysphoria gets misdiagnosed. But it has nothing to do with the topic, which is about changing sexual orientation. That's what a conversion therapy is meant to do, but it doesn't work. It doesn't...

There is a new surge of COVID on the horizon

So far, it seems that the Delta variant isn't really dangerous for people who are vaccinated. They can sometimes get infected, but the infection will almost always be quite mild. It's worse for unvaccinated people. Not only they're much more susceptible to infection, but when they get infected...

Defund the "Woke" military! - Laura Ingraham

Defunding the military doesn't really sound like a good idea. The "wokeness" thing is ultimately just a form of discrimination, so it makes more sense to introduce some anti-discrimination law that prohibits any kind of unequal treatment based on race, or teaching recruits any ideology that...

Milo establishes clinic to assist those leaving gay lifestyle.

Conversion therapies have already been tried. They didn't work, and even caused harm. The insistence of trying it once again reminds me of unironic communists who believe that this time their utopia will work out, despite all the historical precedents that didn't.

Black Theologian Voddie T. Baucham Exposes ‘Demonic Ideology’ Behind CRT, BLM, Antiracism

I think criticizing "CRT" is just counterproductive. No one seems to really agree what it means, so the whole discussion is really prone to motte-and-bailey type of arguments. One thing that's relatively consistent is that people who criticize "CRT" mostly seem to just be against treating...

Colorado baker fined for refusing to bake cake for transgender woman

It really depends if the judges understand the situation. Refusing to make anything for a trans person would be discrimination against that person. On the other hand, refusing a specific theme no matter who asks for it isn't discriminating against any customers.

Colorado baker fined for refusing to bake cake for transgender woman

So it means that he doesn't refuse to serve any customers, he just refuses to bake a few specific cake designs, no matter who asks for them. That's why I don't think it's a case of discrimination.
