Philosophical Foundations for A Christian Worldview Craig/Moreland

I have heard good things about that book but have yet to purchase it. With those two great thinkers it should be a very good book. Mike

    Any bodybuilders here?

Some of the "pros" are taking upwards of $40k a month on drugs I have heard. :sigh:

    Mere Christianity: CS Lewis

Speaking of C.S. Lewis, it's interesting to learn that J.R.R. Tolkien was instrumental in leading C.S. Lewis to Christ. They were both prolific writers. I have even heard atheists commend C.S. Lewis for his writings as a great thinker. :)

    Mere Christianity: CS Lewis

The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel is an excellent book as is the Case For Faith.

    This Present Darkness

I haven't read them but if you want the best book available on spiritual warfare then I would recommend the classic, "Spiritual Warfare in a Believer's Life" by Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

Is anyone reading The Purpose Driven Life?

Very true Kelly. Some people are doing 40 weeks also as a different approach. By the way, Rick Warren was on the Bible Answer Man Broadcast on the radio today talking about this book. He will be on again tomorrow for another hour.

    Mere Christianity: CS Lewis

That's a classic book on Christian apologetics and is regarded as a "must read" by many. I have always loved the quote from CS. Lewis in that book when he said: "Atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning..." I...

    What are YOU currently reading?

I am reading: "The Forgotten Trinity: Recovering the Heart of Christian Belief" by James White.

    Joyce Meyer

No words are not containers of power, God is. By asking Him for something in no ways invokes some metaphysical power of the words themselves. That is metaphysics and has no place in Christian theology. When I say "God's will" I am talking about what He allows to happen, not what He would...

    NIV Translation

Usually these arguments come from the KJV Only camp because they think the KJV is the autographa when it is far from it. The so-called "missing verses" listed have no overall effect on the whole of scripture anyhow so the whole argument is really quite rediculous. God has indeed preserved His...

    NIV Translation

I would agree completely and would take the word of Bruce Metzger over practically any other textual criticist out there. Dr. Metzger knows what he is talking about.

When do we observe Moses' law?

I understand that, but His name is YHWH in the Hebrew, so saying, "God" in English in no way violates the unspeakable tetragrammaton of the OT. That was my point. Soli Deo Gloria

Which Christian Rock songs are anointed???

Wouldn't that be considered, "God-honoring" instead of "Annointed"?

Which Christian Rock songs are anointed???

I always wonder the same thing too. This comes out of the charismatic camp and I don't feel they way they use it makes much sense. That is for another discussion though. ;)

A MOTHER RAISED FROM THE DEAD

Unnecessary? I am not entitled to my opinion of what is my experience? I did put the words "in my opinion" in front to differentiate my opinion from a blanket statement of fact. Whatever.

    Angels have Wings ?

My mistake, I was speaking before reading the text. ;) Yes, I believe those are Cheribum being described in Ezekiel chapter 1. Because he could not believe He was risen. God can make a spirit visible to us but I do not believe that is how they are in essense. In that same chapter you spoke...

I know this may be considered impolite, but some things really need to be said.

Maybe we can get William Dembski to come on here and debate with you? :P ;)

    Seeming contradictions in Scripture

Another puzzling question to me is why is there bickering here in this thread when this forum is supposed to be for Christians only? Can we not discuss the things of the Spirit without needless arguing? As believers we need to heed to what Paul told the church at Colosse in Colossians 6:4...

    Seeming contradictions in Scripture

Although this is not a plain reading of the text answer, I will give you this to consider: There are two thoughts by commentators on this apparent contradiction: 1) Some commentators propose that Gad approached David on two different occasions because of the language used to present the...

A MOTHER RAISED FROM THE DEAD

Because someone is sceptical that makes them not believe in miracles? We are told in scripture to test all things and to hold fast to that which is true. It would be wise for all believers to heed to that teaching. I believe God can do anything He so choses to do. So I say give this person the...
