Gluttony and greed issue. Is living in gluttony living in sin?

When I or we earn more money than we need for bills or living expenses which is not uncommon, the temptation is to blow it on fun things or let it accumulate in a bank is great and every time you do it it gets more boring. The thing is my play money left over from living expenses of living...

Gluttony and greed issue. Is living in gluttony living in sin?

I know what your saying about allowing nice things and i agree but the only thing i feel God pressuring me to is a life of sufficiency without eating or consuming in excess for my own good. The Apostle Paul warned about improper feasting practices by early christians. 1 cor 11 17In the...

Gluttony and greed issue. Is living in gluttony living in sin?

I like your attitude a lot. Once you have seen how it is to do without it makes you begin to wonder if you are using twice as many natural resources to exist by your excessive living than you need then maybe you are inadvertently somewhere causing someone else to live in poverty or without...

I am SICK AND TIRED of militant atheists!!!

I like atheist as people but the problem is if we are true to our beliefs then Christianity and Atheism oppose each other where Atheism rejects the existence of deities and christianity proclaims service to one. Atheism as a belief itself is an enemy of God. Anything that is an enemy of God we...

thanks for your reply i think you and me are thinking along the same lines regarding whats important. I cant help but wonder why God puts so many requests for fasting in the bible and there are so many examples of giving up something to gain favour with God. I know you cant get any more...

    A question for vegetarians

I am a vegetarian and and have been for years. Regarding biblical mandates for being one there are a few directives but probably as many references to eating meat. If you are pro vegetarian the bible will have many verses stand out to you and guide you. its really hard to use the bible to be...

How to nicely tell someone to take a hike, get lost.

Its really easy, dont play games hinting and stuff just say it how it is. If you dont clearly tell others what is going on and how it affects you they cant change their behaviour or understand yours. Not many people like confrontation but it is a very constructive activity if it is done correctly.

Gluttony and greed issue. Is living in gluttony living in sin?

Thanks for that. I have in the past had more luck getting closer to god by giving up the things i felt requested of me to surrender. Not that I am very successful or good at it.

Gluttony and greed issue. Is living in gluttony living in sin?

I know it is an old term to use but I have really felt God want me to deal with these areas if I am to move forward as a successful believer. Excess food is not what I am talking about alone. I mean it in terms of the constant desire for provision way above what is needed for living, wether...

    Not a bigot...simply religious

The lord has a much bigger foot than us, I guess you don't want to encourage him to put it somewhere you wouldn't like it to go.

    Not a bigot...simply religious

What a novel concept, a gay witch hunt! Nothing like leaving your own dirty house to tell your neighbour he needs to clean his dirty house and then partitioning the government to make him clean it.

    Is it hard?

lol jesus came to get rid of a religion that was flawed and since then people have tried to create more of them to make life harder. I thought Jesus came to free us. But yeah part of that freedom involves an attempt at morality in exchange for the gift it brings.

Should I go to my cousin's coming out party?

<< Staff Edit >> it really depends on how close a family it is and we don't have any idea how close they are. In my life as a Christian I have had much more luck sharing my faith after showing some respect and tolerance to a degree I found taking a hard line a bit hit and miss and usually...

My brother in law Is gay i have been through this exact thing. What I would do.. First consideration is its a free lunch! And you have to weigh up how close you are if you want to be involved. If you never see each other don't worry bout it but if your close maybe consider going. Second...

What do you think of this scripture passage?

I dont think all verses apply to everyone all the time but different verses will speak to us when we need them and lay dormant until need again. All are valuable and needed, but at differing times. BTW I love Ecclesiastes. I might go read it now.
