In a dream an evil spirit tries to pull me down literally.

So last night I had an encounter with an evil spirit. This spirit was water like and looked black, but transparent, it was wavy (like waves). I was in my sleep and I had this dream and the evil spirit or demon (not sure which) literally was trying to take me down, I felt like he was literally trying to pull me down spiritually, like somehow it grabbed me and I couldn't get away and we were struggling against one another. Then I remembered a sin I had forgotten to ask for forgiveness for and I immediately asked for forgiveness and I could feel the Holy Spirit come upon me, then I started to pray against the evil spirit and the evil spirit left, then I asked for the Holy spirit to bring His angels of protection to protect me against this evil spirit, after that I felt peace.

I will say this that I have had constant battles in the spiritual realm but I never talk about it to my local church people, not sure how they will react to it. But I have some very deep struggles that I have had and I was wondering if that had something to do with it. But when I fight these battles the Lord Jesus does come to save me and I feel empowered when I pray. But why can't I have that strong of a prayer life for actual physical needs.

So my question is has anyone fought an evil spirit like this?

Also why do evil spirits seem to seek me out, I've seem to have constant battles with evil spirits, I remember when I first became a Christian I fought an evil spirit named Leviathan and it was a very strong evil spirit, I really felt like the Archangel Michael actually came down to help defeat this evil spirit. In fact I remember asking God to send him to protect me, and to help in this fight, I really felt like angels were there fighting on my behalf, but I remember calling out in Jesus name to leave me, and it wouldn't leave, so I did it again, and it still fought against me, then I asked God to brings his Archangel's to fight for me and to protect me, the Lord did step in and

This might mean you will become a very strong member of the Christian church in the future, because demons could be targeting you. I've had plenty of issues with demons, and I know how to sense for them. To get rid of them you say you strip away all the power of the demonic around your home, and 'I' release the hosts of heaven on their assignments to the pulling down of strongholds. You can do this for your home, someone else's home, your state, which is frankly important. Yes if you're being targeted very much then you are probably considered a major threat.
I always heard that it's vital to say you send the demons away in Jesus Christ's name - like, actually say that name. But maybe just the 'hosts of heaven' does the same, idk.
But man, I really agree with you! This is indeed the way to go!

I am reminded of the sin that dwells in our members. I always consider this when discerning the spirits. (near the end of Romans 7)
I think you forgot to add this:

Romans 8
Life Through the Spirit

1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set youa free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh,b God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.c And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

and this:

Romans 3:23

23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

and this: (in the whole context)

There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,i through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

We'll see, I'm not sure what God has in store for me. I don't feel like I am some super saint, because I'm not, however I am reminded that God uses normal every day people to do extraordinary things. (ie reading the Bible)

ut why can't I have that strong of a prayer life for actual physical needs.

Physical need prayers are difficult because you have to believe without seeking self. Seeking self is contrary to love. But for example, I believed God for a job... because 1) God tells us in scripture to have a job 2) my therapist told me to get a better job than where I was working. So in obedience I went and got a job. It was very simple because I just believed God and I wasn't seeking my own because I was being obedient to what I was told to do.

Seek the needs of others, and understand God fully and abundantly provides for his workers. Just last weekend, i was ministering to a relative during a fishing trip. And I got thirsty... it was like a spiritual thirsty even, not just normal thirsty. And I wanted a drink bad, so I prayed... "I have water you do not know about, my water is to do the will of the Father."

But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about."
Then his disciples said to each other, "Could someone have brought him food?"
"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

And then as we were leaving, the other guy mentioned a fountain of water coming out from the side of the hill. And I looked at it, it had been there the whole time, but I was looking at it and realized it was very fresh spring water. And I got a drink from God!

God also got us a fish I prayed for.

So my question is has anyone fought an evil spirit like this?

It's normal as a Christian. Make sure you're water baptized. Read Romans 6.

When we're water baptized, demons lose dominion in our bodies. Now, it's possible they gain a foothold for other reasons in the areas around us.

I suggest you learn faith authority. I think it's awesome you know about angels. Angels are new to me in terms of having them help us.

But before I knew about angels, I would just fight demons with faith. Maybe angels showed up to enforce faith? I don't know, but trusting God's word works.

Read Psalm 91. Also repent of any evil things. Forgive. Know about covenant authority. Read all blessings of Deuteronomy 28.

Death, poverty, war, and deception are all defeated by Christ.

Leviathan is a demon of pride. False humility and pride will give it a foothold. To overcome, believing God's word is the only way.... God's word is the only way to be free of pride, no amount of self-damage will do it.

I actually think the reason I got attacked the other night was because of my willingness to get involved in church again, especially Celebrate Recovery. But in the years before I wanted to be active in the church but I couldn’t be because of work life, this is one of my main complaints about church life, everything seems to revolve around a first shift life in church, there seems to be very little activities for those who work 2nd shift or those who work 3rd shift its very difficult for people to attend meetings, or small groups or lessons. So therefore I felt like I got distance from church and I got distanced from church. It’s very hard for me to make friends. But the friends where I felt most connected, I can’t go back, bc I had a major life change when I lost my job, and had no choice but to go and learn a skill. But when you go to school full time, and you work full time (60-80hrs the norm) then you don’t have much of a life, and you don’t have time to connect to people. For me deep relationships come very difficult. However when I went back to church for the first time I felt connected and I was in a group that I felt that I needed to be in. Like Celebrate Recovery, thus I believe this is why I was attacked, bc I am making a conscious effort to get involved in church.

These kinds of things happen to me as a direct result of sin.

be careful that you do not ascribe an identity to something you do not know the name of.. 'who is man to know who is speaking to him?'

I have been tripped up perhaps half a dozen times in my life because I presume a dream was or wasn't from God because i thought i had discerned the identify of one or more of the persons in it.
