My sister got one about two years ago. I actually borrowed one of my cousins guns and did the eternity symbol freehand, along with her daughters initials.

PS: They must have been struck by seeing their own initials emerge on their mom's skin.

As far back as I can remember, my mom has always had tattoos on her body. She has more than ever now, and is working on getting her sleeves completed.
Because of this, I have never viewed tattoos as rebellious ...

I'm not at all surprised at your mom's appreciation for ink, or at your thoughts, either: it's what you guys are accustomed to, right?

Yes, women are doing it a lot now, and it's increasing. It used to be mainly a man thing, but in North America women are now doing it more than men (59-70% of parlor clients are now female). It's now widely regarded as a very womanly thing.

They did seem amazed. I explained how it worked as I did it. I had practiced for weeks on fake skin. I think the reason their mom was ok with me letting her experience it was so that she wouldnt hound her about it for years. If theyre adults, fine, they can get tats. But they would have aggravated her for years with "Am I old enough yet?".:D

Well, its time to leave for church. Have a good day, brother. God bless.
Hi again, Sir; not seen you lately!

Hope you had a good day in church; with blessing from the Word.

So did any of you guys get more ink lately, maybe?

A lot of Christians get faith based ink.

Blessings.

I wish they had tattoos that looked real but are temporary. Cause I'd never get a tattoo cause I don't like pain & I change my mind about stuff all the time. My mom won't even let me paint my room cause she said I'll want to repaint it in a month & she's probably right. I've changed my favorite color like 5 times this past yr, lol.

Well, you're obviously not ready for a tattoo - and might never be, either! :)

My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 inked on her wrist area; it was her favorite verse and mine; she probably did it because of the conversations with ppl that it would likely start - and it worked with us!

My day was ok, but unfortunately I couldn't go to church. So, how are you?

Okay. So do many of the folk at your church happen to have gotten faith based tattoos? a lot of Christians do, anyway.

Blessings.

A few have them, but not many. Most of the ink is on vets that attend.

Sounds like your way it's still mainly a man thing, as it used to be for years.

In some areas, the ratio of women than do it seems like it's far higher.

I saw this:

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

It must vary quite a bit according to the region that the church is in, I suppose, right?

I've been kinda indecisive about stuff like this forever so I don't think I'll ever want a permanent tattoo. It's too bad there's not ink that fades over time or something. Like a tattoo you'd have for a yr but not forever. Or fake tattoos that look real & don't wash off.

Ouch I'd never want a tattoo on my wrist. It's so bony.

I don't suppose your mom has any either.

I think tattoos are an unique way of expressing yourself...

Winter_Rose:

Sounds like they are your chosen means to express yourself also, right?

(I think you said on the other thread that you have a fish sign <><; so is this your only one so far?)

Yes, and it also depends upon the denomination. In more liberal areas and churches, tattoos are more common. But in conservative areas and churches, it is frowned upon, unless like I said, youre a veteran.

Oh well; I guess that geography might have something to do with it also; like QueenCat said her post that a lot actually do it in Bible Belt evangelical churches:

Well, where I live, which is out the country, very few women have tattoos at our church, which is also in the country. However, I have been to a couple of churches in Charlotte and many more women have tats. Charlotte is in the Bible Belt. I think its more of a rural vs urban thing.

Well, yes, I think you are probably right there.

It also probably applies in states that have a lot of out of state newcomers. right?

I saw this Huffington Post article, FYI:

' "...Most of my clients are in the older bracket," Gallo-Kohlas told The Huffington Post. "We see a lot of women in their sixties and seventies getting their first tattoos." Gallo-Kohlas recalls a woman in her sixties who got a tattoo because everyone in the golf clique at her gated community had one. It seemed like the thing to do in order to fit in.'
Many Women Get Tattoos Post 50 ? And Don't Regret It Later huffington post

While it might not apply so much in rural areas, yet the demographics of ppl getting tattooed has undergone a huge increase, I think, including for faith based designs.

PS: Also, the parlors are more usually urban-based. This is probably why rural ppl have them less, right?
