Firstly, feed your stomach- preferably something high in fat. It helps slow the absorbing of alcohol.
Whatever you drink, nurse it. If you can make it last until "next round" comes along, great. Let the bartender take it and bring you a fresh one. It keeps up the appearance of drinking a lot while actually only drinking a small portion of each drink. Wasteful? Yeah, but I think being sober is worth some waste.
Another thing you can do is try to discreetly get the bartender to bring you non-alcoholic drinks that look the part.

I might watch it again. Just got in bed about 15 minutes ago but my back is killing me and I've already taken 1000mg of codeine. So I guess I'm not getting any sleep tonight.
