Many of my gentile friends eat pork on a regular basis and some of their parents survived into their 90s. Yet, the Bible you believe is the word of HaShem, states that pork is unclean. Seems like you've got yourself a double standard.

No, the rule against pork was for Jews not Christians. When the Gentiles came in God called all foods clean. Peter had the vision. There is no double standard.

So you don't believe it was a joke before even if it had nothing to do with health?

You STILL didn't answer the question: are Lutheran's supposed to abstain from adultery and sex outside of marriage? YES or NO.

I don't abstain from cheating on my husband because it's a burden for me. I abstain from cheating on my husband because 1) I have no desire to do such a thing, 2) because cheating would create a giant hurt for me, my husband, and the cheater, 3) God told me not too. Doing what God tells me not to is not a burden, but rather guidelines which help us live more fulfilling lives, and because He loves us. I listen because I love Him, and want heed His counsel. His love and His guidance and interwoven in the Good News.

What part of that offends you so?

Mormonism is a religion of laws. You need to understand the proper distinction between law and gospel. I suggest you read the following book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/07..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0V90JNDCYFGSGMSSP1X4

No, Pork is not coffee. Pigs are filthy animals. I don't think it's a joke. But if as a Christian you made a law about it then I wouldn't agree.

Coffee and Tea have been shown to have many health benefits such as weight loss and cleansing of the arteries.

Do some more reading up on what all coffee and tea can do.

...which is bad.

For example, when I had my wisdom teeth removed, the doctor recommended that I use wet tea bags. Why? The tannin in the bags would cauterize the sockets.

Green Tea is very good for you, all the studies say so.

Why would dietary restrictions in a religion be about health? There's no reason why rabbit meat is less healthy than beef, and yet the Bible is specific in the fact that one is unclean and the other is clean. Is that a joke as well?
Yes.

A religion that requires you to abstain from coffee and tea is a joke.
Apparently Joseph Smith thought it was ok to sell them (Nauvoo store offerings, circa 1841), but not drink it (Word of Wisdom). Not to mention his selling liquor out of the Mansion House and other alcohol related doings whilst in Nauvoo...

WoW wasn't mandatory until the early 1900s.

Before that, it was considered a strong recommendation.

The Mormons i knew in high school couldn't drink cokes either, but I understand they have lightened up on that.
I once presented a paper at a conference at BYU. I hadn't finished my paper when I arrived so I went to Dunkin Doughnuts to get a cup of coffee for a near all-nighter. Worst cup of coffee I ever had. Serves me right for ordering coffee at Provo, Utah.

It could just be that there was a high employee turnover rate, and so you got an inexperienced crew.

Naah, I think the pot had sat there for hours because no one was drinking it.
Before I was active in the church I loved a cup of coffee. My dad had an cup every day of his life. But since I have been active and went through withdrawal symptoms I have not had to have a cup to start my day
