1.They either get born again out of fear of hell which should never be the case.Fear shouldn't be a driving force towards changing a man because 1st it is one of the tools of the devil 2nd It has a discouraging factor in it since it can discourage a struggling addict that he has no hope of salvation when he continually fails and 3rd the fear can subside when one looks around and sees everyone doing that sin or when he 'adapts' that fear in his system.
2.Getting born again out of the desire to be rich
it is called materialism which should never be the case but with the prosperity gospel you expect many to fall into this and end up getting it wrong Jesus said that you first seek the kingdom and its righteousness the others will be added unto you.But many are in salvation as a way of getting rich, rather than pursuing godliness 1st.
3.They weren't ready for the commitments or they had no idea as to what was expected ie CRUCIFYING the flesh with its desires.
4.To others it was a norm in their family/society to get saved.Hey, its a personal decision.
5.Others were coerced by associates/relatives to do it or risk to be abandoned or lose their affections.
6.Christians who have no appeal to seek the truth. This can be fatal because what keeps people in addictions are lies, talking from experience, you don't fight addictions with any other thing except the truth which is in the written word of God.

Getting born again should be a firm personal decision to quit sin,a commitment to be obedient,a pledge to follow Jesus' lordship irregardless of what including death leave alone cravings. Paul and other apostles referred themselves to prisoners of Christ AND only then is where you see the true power of Jesus in your life, the peace, joy, revealed righteousness, salvation and all other graces available for a believer.Get born again with a mind of true commitment for a double minded man is unstable in all his ways and draw near to God and he will draw near to you James 4:8.None is righteous except God but let none take this as an excuse for continuing in sin but with the spirit of power, love and sound mind 2 Timothy 1:7 lets focus to be sanctified 2 Corinthians 7:1 for without this no one will see the Lord Hebrews 12:14

this is after all the advice forum; so i assume you are asking for advice.

1Co 15:56-57 KJV
(56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
(57) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

habitual transgressions of God's laws comes from focus on the law; as the strength of sin is the law. we are to be led by God, using His laws as means to recognize His leading, not try to correctly apply the multitude of God's laws in each situation according to our own limited intellect and understanding.

if you focus on crucifying your flesh, you are still self-focused and not God-focused. as you strive to become God-focused, you will crucify your flesh effortlessly as a by-product of being led by God. Salvation isn't a situation where God picks you up, dusts you off, points you in the right direction, and tells you to see if you can get it right this time - salvation is a process whereby you strive to be led by God rather than self by shifting your focus from your performance to His leading and grace.

my advice is to change your focus; as long as you focus on sin, you will be it's servant; focus on God, and you will be free from sin (unbelief), and this will produce a reduction in transgressions of His laws (sins) as a by product of your relationship with God that's based on faith in His grace.

I like to define "being rich" is being part of a world human economy that relies on the wealthy for continued periodic pay on a product such as a new television set, or service such as the home internet, whether the period is weekly, bi-weekly for example. Wealth is the driving force behind ever-changing new ideas, information and inventions in science and technology:.
As for spiritual and material wealth in God's Kingdom in heaven, even the kingdom itself, it is so advanced - ultimate science and technology has been achieved on a supernatural level, our 21st century-born minds cannot perceive it to be beyond our human modern science and technology because the Word of God seems so ancient and almost Greek mythic-like in it's story-telling, such as the creation of Adam and Eve from Earth's dust:.
Speaking of "dust", that modern television set, tablet PC for example come from Earth's elements or chemicals and mankind doesn't realize that it is heading towards God's mysterious science and technology on a supernatural level, even though it has barely scratched the surface.;'*';.

I'd disagree since this not an open and shut case. While I get what you are referring to for those who basically become christian but nothing changes, there are those who are legit christian but still may due sinful things. I mean after all none are perfect. As my pastor said some sin in some way every day even not meaning too. Even he admits he has to pray for forgiveness alot of times. Now one thing I will say in addition is some people who have a vice for example, even if they stop sinning, the devil does not say "Well guess hes done with this temptation, I'll stop bugging him now!". The devil never gives up. I remember a good man who was a christian. Early on in his life he was into inappropriate content, really bad inappropriate content. He became saved and it wasn't to long before he stopped looking. But he said throughout his life temptation would pop up. And at one point 35+ years later he stumbled and looked at inappropriate content and right away prayed for forgiveness.
