Where does the Christian world derive this nonsense from Scripture? What specific Scripture verse implies that one sin merits eternal torment?
Sin separates us from God, the wages of sin is death, and death is separation from the author and sustainer of life.
I don't know any church that believes any one sin leads means hell. Who are you referring to? Did you have a bad experience with someone? The Catholic church believes that a "sin unto death" (1 John 5:16) means spiritual death aka hell, but the overwhelming number of sins they consider to be "sins not unto death." And at any rate you can always repent.
Oh THAT. I would say that is true about ALL Christians. It is based on what James says combined with what Paul says:According to some creeds, you have to be perfect or you are damned to torment (unless of course, you believe in Jesus.)
That would be the equivilent of committing a sin not unto death repeatedly until you silence the voice of the Holy Spirit, severing your relationship with God, which is what a believer can do.Do u mean Heb 10:26...for if we go on deliberately sinning after once acquiring the knowledge of the truth there is no longer any sacrifice to atone for our sins?
