Which is the best way to send a private message (PM) on CF? Is 'Conversation' the PM means of interaction?

When you see a post, click on the person's screen name and a box will pop up. Click "start a conversation", and that will send them a PM.
So you are correct, conversation is the same as PM here for this forum coding.

Where are you speaking of? You won't see the option to PM someone in a forum. You can go to that person's profile, and start a conversation with them from there... or you can go to your conversations and click the big blue rectangle that says "Start a New Conversation"

Yoan,
When I clicked on your name, Yoan, to the left of your post, this dialogue box came up. Here's a Print Screen of it on my PC:
See the link, 'Start a Conversation'. This is what will come up when you click on the name of the person with whom you want to start a conversation (on CFcom this is the equivalent of a PM). Then you can start the conversation you want.

Oh that is weird. There's no such box when i click on someone's profile
Surely staff who are reading this thread should be able to clarify it or fix it for you. I'll engage in a 'Conversation' with one of them to see why you have no access to 'Start a Conversation'.

Why am I able to 'Start a Conversation' and Yoan does not have access to this dialogue box? Does Yoan have to meet a minimum requirement of posts before she can start a conversation?
Would you please investigate this for Yoan and fix it?

Why don't you interact with one of the staff to determine why you can't 'Start a Conversation' with anyone?

If the member you are trying to PM (conversation) has there preference set so their personal profile is private; you will not be able to post conversations to them; unless they follow you.

Now would you please inform me how to set the preference on my personal profile so that it is not private so that the conversations can take place? Your statement assumes I know how to do that. I don't know (although for me it is fixed from a previous interaction on CF).
For the benefit of newbies, please explain how to avoid setting it to 'private'.

Oh; I thought I had mentioned before but you need 20 posts and 5 likes before you can send "conversations" that's so spammers can't come in; make an account, and send members PMs right away. You only need one more post; then you will be able to make PM's.
