When I think of love, I think of Jesus Christ (GOD) and what He has done for me. But Love has existed long before God created everything. For God is love. Love was not something that needed to happen. Love has always been and always will be. For Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

When you think of love you should think of Jesus, and you should think on all He accomplished for you through His finished work on the Cross. "For greater love has no man than to lay down His life for another."

If you were to read this thread, I already quoted that verse and made that point already. It still does not change that love existed in eternity's past. God did not become loving by what He did. God is love. God has always been loving and good even before the creation. God's love has always been apart of His eternal nature and being.

No one is denying that God IS Love, but that does nothing to explain love to an unbeliever.

One is denying God is love if they just say the word "cross" and that is all they say. There are many crosses used in history. Which one are you talking about? Like I said, people use cross tattoos and necklaces and that does not mean their heart is right with God. So one has to clarify what they mean by the word "cross." I can cross my arms. Make a cross out of a sticks in my backyard. You have to be alot more specific than saying the "cross." For crosses can mean a whole bunch of different things to alot of people.

The Cross is God's ultimate revelation of Love. There is no higher expression or better explanation of Love.
Sure, but it usually requires an explanation. I think that's what he's trying to break down.

Already addressed in post #16.

The usual method for those seeking understanding is to ask questions that actually relate to what the other has written.

In Post #16, you did not actually address the use of others using a cross thru out history. Also, are you speaking in the third person about yourself? Or are you referring an apostle in Scripture who said the word "cross"? If your first statement is yourself speaking the word "cross", how does one read your mind to know that you are talking about the cross of Jesus Christ? How do they know what the gospel messsage even is by hearing that simple word? If your reference was to Scripture, then you did not actually provide a Scripture reference for a person to read for themselves in the context that would tell them about the gospel elswhere in the Bible.

Are you really saying you do not know what cross the Cross is referencing, or who is being referenced by the name Paul? If so, then you truly are clueless and have no business being on a Christian forum trying to teach others.

No....he's saying others wouldn't. No reasonable person evangelize by simply looking at someone and saying, "The cross." I think he's also saying your answers were confusing.

Insults that are not true aside, your not understanding the OP question. The OP question was how do you define love to an unbeliever. An unbeliever is not going to know what Paul said. They are not going to be familar with Scripture. Hence, why it is important that you have to explain things to them beyond just a mere word (That can mean a lot of different things to many people).

I am not explaining love to an unbeliever here, unless you are an unbeliever. I am explaining it to you, so that perhaps you will be able to explain it to an unbeliever.

But that's not the point on topic with the question asked in the Original Post (OP), though. Please try and stay on topic.

You are answering this question as if you were answerig it for another believer. That is not what the OP question asked. The OP question is geared towards an unbeliever (And not a believer).
