We read LORF in HS. Amazing study on human nature. I can see that happen. The worst I read I remember was..Lord of the Flies by william golding.
As there were no girls on the island, so of course it descended into horrible savagery. I think he wanted to write an opposite scenario to the Coral Island by Ballantyne...or the Mysterious Island by Jules Verne.
Non preppers, and zombies will act the same way in time of desperation. If you have ever seen how a crowd of desperate, irrational, hatred filled people act you will see the immediate connection to zombies.
Put yourself in the zombies shoes (a zombie is a non prepper). You haven't had running water, or food for 3 days. Your children are starving and crying, you have no personal relationship with God and you are run completely by the lizard portion of your brain. You know that your neighbor down the street said something about storage food a few years ago. Do you think that zombie won't be at your door? Yes he will and he might bring his fellow zombies.
Zombies are fantasy but humans who act like them aren't.
Hmm. Ive been camping for three days. But then when you go camping you are prepared. Brownouts tend to happen randomly. But they havent lasted that long that I can remember, at least, not where I was.
Im sure people with their wits about them can survive for three days without power. But they may start to smell.
I thought prepping was like prepping for dinner like what chefs do. Cutting everything up and having everything on hand so they can cook it when it gets ordered.
Id never heard of it as like a christian thing until recently.
Is there something happening or like a preacher who started this as a movement? I mean ppl like bear grylls and shows like survivor have been around for a while.
Last time my neighborhood lost power (downed trees on power lines all over the neighborhood), it was out for three days, then the line to my house was loose, so that was another day. It was the middle of winter, so no food spoiled and I didn't get too ripe either (pro-tip: baking soda as body powder). My workplace had power, so my days were normal, but my nights were by candlelight. I was very grateful my brother had sent me a battery-operated book-light. Darkness is boring.Hmm. Thanks for the testimony. I think it shows just how easy and how quickly you can find yourself in an emergency.Last time my neighborhood lost power (downed trees on power lines all over the neighborhood), it was out for three days, then the line to my house was loose, so that was another day. Post Sandy, my neighborhood had power, but I had no gasoline for my car, not enough to drive to look (stations would get some trucked in, then run out within an hour or two, so it was pot-luck). My husband came in from upstate with a full tank and found one for me, then the crisis abated.
