Is the Pastor responsible in the deaths of 8 members?

I struggle to understand why Christians believe in Guns. I can understand using firearms for hunting, maybe even it could be argued that a man has a responsibility to protect his family. I'm not sure, but for me personally we are supposed to bear our cross not our guns. Bearing our cross is about following Christ, even unto death, into heaven.

Peter did carry a sword but Christ would not allow him to use it.


John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”

Matthew 26:52 But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish[a] by the sword.

Matthew 5:39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

Phillipians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Stately differently, the question is like proposing that the Governors of all states that have laws regulating firearms, be made responsible for, and able to be sued for, incidents with gun victims. It's an odd view of law, and of morality.
