Actually, 1 Corinthians 15:51-55 is the rapture itself hence the trumpet.
Yeah I know a lot of people think 1 Cor 15:51-55 is the rapture but it's not. The rapture is in 1 Thess 4:16-17 and these two scriptures are not the same. This is one of the greatest bible prophecy error plaguing the church.
You have to look and compare everything and not take two similarities out of 5-7 other differences and come to a conclusion they are the same.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 NKJV
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:51-54 NKJV
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
In 1 Thess 4:16, the trumpet used is the trumpet of God. In 1 Corinthians 15:52, the trumpet used is the last trump.
"How many trumpet of God are there?"

The Last Trump and The Trump of God, neither of which can be the blowing of the seventh trumpet (the third woe) as given in Revelation 11:15—without doubt, carry the indelible signature of our Lord. Why is this? It is because this seventh angel blows his trumpet of judgments on the earth along with the announcement that the world has become the Kingdoms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, over which He shall reign forever and ever. Then the final judgments of this seventh judgment continues through chapter fifteen.

A problem occurs because some of those who believe in the Mid-Tribulation Rapture wrongly teach that the last trump (the trump of God) that removes the Church from the earth at the Rapture is the same as the seventh trumpet blown by the seventh angel in the Book of Revelation (Rev. 11:15-19).Trumpets are mentioned almost 100 times in the Bible.But in those more than 100 verses there are no verses that say the last trump (the trump of God) is the same as the seventh trumpet that will be blown by the seventh angel during the Tribulation Period.Those who say the last trump (the trump of God) is the same as the seventh trumpet that will be blown by the seventh angel during the Tribulation Period just assume that they are the same.It’s their interpretation or probably something that they have heard others say. But it is not a verse of Scripture in the Bible.
=============================
This is what 1 Corinthians 15:51-55 is. People have to look at the big picture of God's divine plan of redemption for sin.
*Resurrection of the dead.
*Everyone will be change, not just those in Christ.
*Everyone becomes immortal.
*Death and hell destroyed.
1 Corinthians 15:51-55 NKJV
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
This is what 1 Corinthians 15:51-55 is, the parallel verses found in Revelation 20:13-21:3.
*Resurrection of the dead.
*A new heaven and new earth where God will live among man. Just like as it was in the Garden of Eden. This is immortality if you're living in the presence of God. Everyone changes.
*Everyone becomes immortal.
*Death and hell destroyed.
Revelation 20:13- 21:3 NKJV
13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.
Death and hell will NOT be destroy at the rapture. Otherwise, where will satan be bound for 1000 years? And how will people die during armageddon and the God/Magog war 1000 years from now if everyone is immortal?
Hosea 6:1-2 NKJV
1 Come, and let us return to the Lord;
For He has torn, but He will heal us;
He has stricken, but He will bind us up.
2 After two days He will revive us;
On the third day He will raise us up,
That we may live in His sight.
"After two days He will revive us" ~ This is the rapture (part of the 1st resurrection and 1 Thess 4:16-17).
"On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight" ~ This is the 2nd resurrection (1 Cor 15:51-55)
This is God's plan and the mystery revealed by Paul. The last trumpet he spoke of is the final trumpet.
No more trumpet will ever be blown again as none are needed, no more trumpet of war, no more trumpet of judgement etc. Everything will once again be like a time in the garden of Eden, eternal peace and righteousness.
