Yeah, I fasted from facebook for about 2 weeks. It gets easier every day you go without it and honestly at the end of it I didn't want to get back on fb. The only reason I finally caved was because friends had sent me messages and were asking for replies. Just keep going.

I kicked a little unmentionable 'habit' for a while, and I've pulled off a few 72 hour water fasts in the past. I may do some fasting again, because I actually quite enjoy it. (For the right reasons.)

I don't have Facebook and never have. I don't watch television either - so that one is easy for me. I need a bit more of a challenge.

All I use is FB messenger and have like 35 friends so its drama free.
I don't see much to give up since almost everything I stop doing I don't want anymore and the things I should consider giving up for a while I can't think of any to be honest..
I don't do much per say and the few things I shouldn't I really try to avoid. Probably will do more lazy and fun things than less.
No TV, no video games, no YouTube per say, and so. I don't burn time really :(

I have given up things, usually because I'm sure the process of giving them up/doing without permanently will be of benefit to my soul. Either directly or through allowing a greater focus on God.

Serious note: I started learning to cope without one of my slightly more destructive habits by making the conscious effort to give it up, but never for an undetermined length of time.

At the time I needed to have milestones, otherwise the temptation to cope through self harm became a little too much to handle. I talk to God more now than I did whilst harming, I assume that's because I'm no longer externalising my negative feelings...

I had to give up a comfort habit of mine, which was biting my hands and fingers.

I did it for health reasons. Haven't gotten sick in a while now because I keep my hands as clean as possible and try to always wash thoroughly before touching my mouth or lips.

It was hard to do at first, because it was a habit. But it did finally break.

I have decided to give up tv and Facebook for a determined time. I have been doing it for a few days now and it hard. Have you done this or something close?
Yeah, sometimes I've taken week or month breaks, and some longer. I don't really fast from food. Sometimes I just take a break from internet/social as a way to focus more on God and not be distracted by all that stuff. It itself it's not bad, but I think it's refreshing to take a break from routine things or things that take up too much time from time to time. If it is something that it is a bad habit or an addiction though. Then it can work better to take longer than just a week break. Just have to know what reason you are taking your break or fast for. And it helps to have a purpose in mind as to what that time will then be spent on. This is how it works for me, not sure if it works the same for everyone though. :D

I gave up a lot of the rubbish food, I'd quickly gotten into the habit of eating, whilst in America. It was harder, than I expected. I had gotten into the habit, of a sugary coffee drink + a muffin, every morning. American muffins, are HUGE. I got so fat there, at first. Had to exercise, like crazy, to get back to normal, before leaving.

I've tried to give up soda, but I have an easily upset stomach and a lot of sinus drainage, and it seems to be the only thing that helps.

I'm instead trying to give up high fructose corn syrup, but finding replacements is proving difficult (not a lot of choice here).

Perhaps you could opt for carbonated water or Stevia sweetened sodas?

I've tried both, and I greatly dislike them.

Maybe if I could find carbonated water that came in plastic bottles, I would feel differently about it. Glass bottled drinks have a distinct taste to them, and while I like glass bottled sodas, glass bottled carbonated water didn't taste good at all to me.

Right now I'm giving up meat for a few days. So far I haven't eaten it for 2 days. I've gone a day without it before but not 2. I will not eat it today either, which would make 3. I won't eat it at all this entire weekend. I'm eating shrimp and fish instead.

I don't know how vegetarians do it, lol. As for FB, I don't use it. I don't watch much TV either.

America also has free refills on soda. It was crazy! I'd order a Coke, at a restaurant. I wouldn't even finish it, and the server, would come, and take the old one away, and give me a new one. I'd sometimes drink, 3-4 Cokes, in one meal. Diet Coke, it's even worse for you. It also tastes different, in the United States. That was a habit I had to break. I see my dentist, later this month. I hope she doesn't see evidence of my bad habits, whilst in America.

What was also strange to me, is that at some casual food places, you buy sodas in small, medium & large, but, the refills are free. Why would anybody buy the large soda?

I love the giant muffins lol

I quit smoking months ago and I quit looking at pron a long time ago. There will come a day when I'll quit soda, but today is not that day.

I loved them far too much. Cupcakes, also. I gained a stone, in four months! I had to work so hard, to lose weight, before I left. In the cities I lived in, in America, there were all these cupcake bakeries, frozen yoghurt places, everywhere. Bakeries, that only sold cupcakes! I still don't know if there is anything different, between a muffin & a cupcake, except icing? People would eat muffins, as breakfast foods.
