As for hierarchical liturgies, I would love to serve the same one twice. Every time I serve with the Bishop it is a completely different experience. I've been 5th deacon (where they pretty much make up stuff for you to do), first deacon of two, second deacon of two, and only deacon, not counting my ordination which is completely different as well. It's so hard to learn the order when you are doing something different every time. The one time I spent about a week preparing to be the only deacon serving and then found out the day before that another deacon was coming, and I didn't know which of us had been ordained first... It can be a little stressful, but there has always been a traffic director (or several at pastoral conferences). It helps to keep your eyes planted on them, but you have to keep one eye on the bishop lest you miss something....

not to justify it, but a lot are posting it as a state's rights issue. but I don't think it should be here because it could cause scandal to others, and very few political stances are worth that. and this is not one of them.

On that subject some may or may not be happy, or care, to know that the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond is officially out of battle flags. Due to high demand their online store is also backlogged by about three weeks.

This was one of the few things that restored my faith in humanity lately!

Very few in my parish are online socially where I knew of it (they probably are, I just don't know). All of my online "Orthodox talk" has been with people I didn't know in person (though I've been privileged to meet some of you now and you are delightful folks!).

So this might sound a little weird, but I happened on Presbytera's page on FB, and I was a little nervous about "opening up" more than I do publicly in person (believe it or not, I'm a pretty private person), but after a few days I sent her a friend request. I told her I was interested in seeing photos from Church, and I wouldn't be offended if she preferred to keep her circle of friends private. It's been about a week or two, so I thought I'd check - and I think she blocked me? She's no longer visible to me.

Several of you "know" me on FB - am I that weird or scary? Lol ... Just wondering how to think about this. I don't want to think anything bad or take offense. But it feels strange, especially since it was a little difficult for me to ask in the first place.

If anyone is on FB and wants to connect there, feel free to send me a message or whatever. My name is different there (this one is fictitious).

But it feels strange when it would have seemed easy to just decline the request.

I'm also wondering if I should apologize in person for any intrusion and ask forgiveness, but that might also seem like a rebuke or complaint if she did block me, so I wonder if I should drop it?

I think you should just let it go.

The reasoning for that is that people have all kinds of ideas about who they want to see their facebook and whatever and also it's not always immediately apparent who can see what about you. I would simply assume that she preferred to be very low profile and may not have even been aware she was even visible to you, or that she had been meaning to make herself more invisible and this was an impetus and just let it go at that.

Thanks, GZT, you're absolutely right.

That's pretty much exactly what I started thinking after I posted. Having someone show up and comment on her pictures without her knowing I was out there could be unnerving or whatever, and maybe she just quickly took care of that.

Whatever the case may be, I don't need undercurrents with anyone. And yeah, I should work it out for myself (as above) and let it go. If I bring it up, I may make her uncomfortable.

Why is it I sometimes have to post dumb questions to get an answer I should have been able to see myself? LOL Oh well. Thanks VERY much for the answer.

Transfiguration. I floated the idea of doing vigil instead of vespers and it was approved if I wanted to do it, just have to think if I want to pull the trigger. I miss doing vigil, but it's also, like, we have two people in the choir right now with the whole summer thing.

Their setting of "Vouchsafe, O Lord..." is always so satisfying. It's at around 30:00.

Ugh I want to sleep but my neighbor is having this live acoustic concert in her backyard (and since we live in town it is really close). We have a 10 pm noise ordinance but I don't want to cause trouble. I'm exhausted and NEED sleep!. I love my 1850s house but it has no noise insulation...

Not a bad idea to pick up foam earplugs if it happens too often. I sometimes need them, and they work well, and you get used to them quickly. My alarm still wakes me up.
