Probably. But that wouldn't be your greatest need.

If you spell out the gospel with condiments that you put on the food it's a win/win.

I'm such a genius!

If the gospel presented is Love, Compassion and Service to those in need, (which I believe is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ) than I'd agree.

.
No. That's not the gospel.

No. That's not the gospel.
To bad, it's a good Gospel and one that makes God ones reality in life. And it is what Jesus spent most of His time teaching. It's also a Gospel that would bring the most people to Christ.

I’m guessing this is the Gospel then…

"Let the dead bury their own dead."

"May no one ever eat fruit from you again."

What good does it benefit a man to gain the whole world (or get food and clothes) but forfeit his soul?

Better to starve to death and be in heaven than have food and live on earth.

Wouldn't your "charity" be worthless to anyone who's already heard the gospel or would you just not bother to provide said charity to said person?

Yes. It is. Although, that's not what we are talking about.

So you don't see a conflict of interest if your only charitable to those who want to hear the gospel. As has been said if a person is hungry they could not care less about any one else. It is called survival. Programming from God.

Hypothetical to get a discussion going.

You are in charge of the local chapter of your organization's charitable auxiliary. As part of it, you must procure food and supplies for the poor and needy in your community.

There's a local individual who is famous for being able to stretch a dollar. This person knows all the tricks and tips for saving money, not just on basics like food but also on things like clothes, school supplies, and toys. Having this person help you out would be a big deal, as it'd enable you to stretch your auxiliary's assets significantly.

This person is also openly Mormon.

Do you ask them for help? If not, then why?

Not that you'll be surprised by this answer, but of course I'd enlist them to help. I'd enlist them to help if they were Christian, Muslim, atheist, black, white, Native American, and on and on....

I understand that what your saying is basic Christian beliefs. For myself, it's upside down and is part of the problem in the world. When people are hungry, they need food. There are millions of starving people on this planet.

Did I say anything about not feeding the hungry?

Where did I say I would only be charitable to those who want to hear the gospel?

What you did say is that it's more important to save a persons soul than it is to feed them. Here's the quote:

What good does it benefit a man to gain the whole world (or get food and clothes) but forfeit his soul?

Nope, but the emphasis is upside down.

.
And this is why the church should not be unequally yoked. There's more emphasis on evangelism in scripture than there is on feeding the poor. Which doesn't mean that we shouldn't feed the poor. But the eternal far outweighs the temporal.
