• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Some christians and their “selective demonology”. They just never stop do they? Not when it comes to mental illness. Of course not! There's no demon of diabetes. No demon of fibromyalgia, no demon of high blood pressure, no demon of back pain, no demon of heart disease, no demon of cancer, etc. What about those demons of obesity? They're probably like “legion”...”what is your name? There are many...Lay's Potato Chips, KFC. Cookies, pasta, roast beef, McD's....legions y'all...legions!!! You know some of these “obesity demons” probably dwell at the the buffet. If some of these christians play it right they can go on down there and cast those demons out. Well that's if they're not the ones down at the buffet who are obese!

It's absolutely amazing how some christians can talk about almost anything in life regarding health issues but it seems like it's only mental illness where there is supposedly something “demonic”. It's like a one trick pony or something.

Some christians really need to know what demon possession is and how to deal with it. People who are demon possessed can be delivered but the Holy Spirit works by love and not lies. Demons are still subject to the power and authority of God through his Son Jesus Christ. I guess some christians never got the memo that medication can't control a demon...not a real one or are some people just that dumb? Are they really that stupid? Maybe....

Everything is not a demon or a spirit but the Word does speak about a lying spirit and maybe that's what some of these christians need casted out of them. So look a there! We can all be delivered...you first!

*Whew that felt good to say and if I need to I'll say it again...

I thought maybe I would come back and erase what I said earlier but when I thought about it, I don't think I will.

It's hard having an illness and it's even harder when some people who say they're Christian demonize that illness. People like that almost destroyed my faith when I was a babe in Christ. They would have succeeded if it had not been for the Holy Spirit and then God giving me people who love Him and in return loved me.

It's one thing to have a testimony of having been healed/delivered of a mental illness if your situation was demonic/spiritual. I don't know one saint who wouldn't rejoice over that but it's a whole different thing when you label other people's mental illness as demonic/spiritual. Unless you have lived it, you have no ideal of the pain you have caused. It's not only wrong but you do damage to people in a way that you can never undo. So you better know beyond a shadow of a doubt when you say someone's illness is demonic/spiritual because not only are going to have to answer to God for that but I'm not so sure people aren't going to start suing.

Maybe if some christians don't fear God in the way they inflict pain on other Christians who are suffering, maybe being sued will sober them up.

What a blessing it is to KNOW you're loved by God and that there's nothing anyone can do about it. People might not like me, might reject me, might talk about me, you name it but there's absolutely nothing they can do about God loving me. It makes me sad when people say they're a Christian but they don't really know God loves them. They'll tell you how Jesus died for them, how they go to church, read the word, , and "do" all the supposed "right" things but when you ask them if they KNOW God loves them, they seem to answer from some distant place like they really aren't sure. That's such a sad way to live and that's not what God wants for any of us. He wants us to KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that He loves us way down deep on the inside...where we live everyday. He wants us to KNOW in such a way that His love can't be shaken in or from our lives.

Some people pride themselves on knowing theology, knowing the Greek/Hebrew, knowing Scripture etc. but what they really need to know is God's love. Maybe if some Christians really knew that, there wouldn't be so many debates, fighting, and attacking. Maybe then there would be some real fellowshipping because He would be back in His rightful place - lifted up. The Alpha, the Omega, the Beginning, the End and Everything in between. I'm just saying...This was really on my heart...

I've been fighting this paper battle for years but I can see some light at the end of the tunnel. I might actually be able to pull it off. If I can just stay focused and follow through. Just do it...:cheer:

Well I'm still fighting the good fight...that is the paper fight! This is where a little mania comes in handy and I can make my busyness count. I had set up my system and it was all good. For a minute there I was on a roll. There I was sorting, shredding, taking bags out to the trash bin thinking I'm almost there and then the unthinkable happened. I found another whole box of papers *faints*. I couldn't believe it! It's like it goes on and on. I haven't stopped, but it slowed me down...way down. Maybe that's a good thing. I don't want to go off the rails manic wise. It did make me think about why this was stressing me and just who am I comparing myself to anyways? It's okay, I will get there. It might take some time but I'll get there.

my thoughts...
well you go and say something and actually can use your experience to HELP someone who's loved one is suffering and then someone else pounces on you and says what do you know, YOUR not a doctor.

arrrgh. And do doctors actually know what it's like to ever have bipolar disorder themselves, personally? to suffer from it? to take meds? and to recover? Firsthand?? I don't think so!

the whole demonology thing is silly.
there's demons that will cause symptoms but there's no demon of bipolar disorder. Its more complicated than that.
Also. If you are a christian anything that's unclean and unholy you do not want inside of you or oppressing you confusing your thoughts so there ought to be NO FEAR in casting it out. Perfect love casts out fear!

People need to face up to reality. People that don't have bipolar disorder can harbour demons as well. It is not just restricted to mental illnesses.

bones are important. All the people I know who've suffered any kind of mental illness had at some point suffered trauma when bones were developing as an infant. we are sensitive creatures. I know of myself if I'm feeling jittery, it's in my bones. I don't know how this regulates hormones or speeds it up or slows it down..but maybe fish oil does some kind of lubricating job.

I have to stay away from people like that because it brings up such bad memories/feelings. I just can't...I don't want anything to do with people like that...it's just too painful...People should tread lightly when they don't know somebody's life story...Sometimes some people don't get second chances with me because of where I've come from and I will never live like that again or allow those kind of people into my life again...not ever and I really mean that...not going to do it...

It doesn't matter if anyone understands because it's already recorded in heaven. Sometimes I wonder if some of the same people who profess to be healed of mental illness have ever put their arms around someone who is suffering from mental illness and told them that they cared about them. I wonder have they ever asked a mentally ill person what can they do for them? Sometimes I wonder why is that so hard to do? Sometimes I think some Christians want you to be healed so they don't have to do anything. They don't want to walk along side you and bear your burden. Instant healing means they have no responsibility to you...

Actually... I have seen literature and heard messages where people said everything from asthma to migraines was either caused by a demon or lack of faith.

All of this stuff happens because our entire world is broken. The results of rebellion that happened a long time ago, but still happens in each of our lives too.. not that I have illnesses because of MY sin, but I have illnesses because sin exists and the world is in a state of descending into chaos, not improving.

I'm with you..

Sometimes there are things I don't like and I just get in a mood. It's the small foxes that spoil the vine. Hopefully this won't do a slow burn on me. It just speaks volumes though. Deceit should never be named amongst those who say they know the Lord. I have no respect for that. A lot of times some people think people aren't awake especially mentally ill people but we're awake. More than you could ever know because many times our life depends on it...

I was thinking about this not fitting in thing that some of us seem to go through but then I started thinking about what it does mean to fit in. Fit in to what? Be a part of what? It's like I've noticed the people who do all this rejecting don't really have a lot on the ball. If they did they wouldn't need to play that game. So I think it's a blessing to not fit in and to be able to stand in your authenticity in Christ. It feels good and I feel strong both emotionally and spiritually. So many people are running around trying to be like everybody else. When everybody else is running off a cliff. It's a terrible thing when christians do like the world and prostitute their friendship and relationships. It's such a sad thing. No light...
