    Books on God the Father

I am working on studying each person of the Trinity. There seems to be no shortage of books on Jesus or the Holy Spirit, but I am having trouble finding a solid book on God the Father. Any reccomendations? Thanks!

Resources on Sola Scriptura and Sacred Tradition

Great! Thank you so much...I am a fan of Geisler, and didn't realize he wrote a book on the subject (but then again, what subject hasn't he covered). I will look into all these!

Resources on Sola Scriptura and Sacred Tradition

I am looking on resources on Sola Scriptura, both defending the viewpoint and criticizing it. I am looking to get well-rounded information from both sides of the debate. Does anyone have any suggested reading? Thanks!

    Holy Friday in EO

Thank you all for the info you provided. It was the "Passion Vespers" at three, then the schedule says "Lamentations" at seven. Unfortunately I couldn't attend, because my young lady (just barely a year old) had her doctor visit run long. She has two ear infections and is so congested, we have...

    Holy Friday in EO

I wanted to attend a Holy Friday service at an Orthodox church -- the one nearby has a service starting at 3pm, I believe. I am not Orthodox, I've just been exploring it a bit, and I've only attended Divine Liturgy once. I was just wondering what to expect from the Holy Friday service. I have a...

    Bible Study for Youth

Great! Thank you for the advice...it's frustrating to see all these studies focused on theoretical and insubstantial self-improvement while there is almost nothing focused on caring for others in a tangible way.

    Bible Study for Youth

I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations on a bible study for high school age students that focused on God's love for the marginalized-- specifically the poor, orphaned, widowed, and foreign. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    need your thoughts/advice--marriage prob

Biblically, I do not think this is justifiable grounds to end or abandon a marriage. Even if they are dabbling in the occult, Christ is more powerful! Continue in prayer and fasting! Do not abandon your partner -- Satan is obviously battling for his soul, and to abandon your husband would be to...

    Intro to EO.

The best resource I've found yet has been the "Orthodoxy & Heterodoxy" podcast on Ancient Faith Radio. Although I don't think I'd recommend it unless you have a little bit of familiarity with theological terms, its very good for "this is what they believe, this is what we believe, this is why"...

    Recommended Reading

Received a gift certificate for Barnes & Noble over Christmas and was thinking of spending it on some books about orthodoxy. So what would you recommend? I was thinking either "Becoming Orthodox" by Peter Gilquist or The Orthodox Study Bible. I haven't actually looked at the OSB in person...is...

    Exploring Orthodoxy

I recently attended my first liturgy! I talk about it on my blog, but here is the entry for my first liturgy:

    Good Contemporary Christian Fiction

Thanks. I guess it's just frustrating as somebody who didn't necessarily come from a Christian lifestyle to read these books that really don't feel like much that I've experienced. I don't really enjoy romance as a genre (don't mind it as an element of the plot) or historical fiction, and I...

Antiochian, Holy Trinity, etc. - What's the Difference?

Trying to decide which of the three Orthodox churches in my area to visit first (I'll probably end up visiting all of them eventually), but just curious what the full names mean, and does it indicate a difference of any kind? The churches in my area are: Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox St...

My Goodness, I'm Married to a Weirdo...

Ok, ok, since APPARENTLY it's normal to obsessively seperate clothing that is ALL going to be CLEAN in the end ANYWAY ;), a new example of my husband's weirdness: he sleeps wrapped up like burrito, with a hood pulled over his head. Only his mouth pops out. Its kind of adorable. :) My...

    Good Contemporary Christian Fiction

Well, sometimes Christian fiction only seems comfortable tackling certain subjects, and always seem to come together like a puzzle where everybody is happy fitting into their perfect place, and heartbreak and grief, but we love Jesus and so everything is hunk-dory! :) I want angst! I want...
