I think the last Christian movie I saw was The Cross and the Switchblade. I think I was eight. It was a pretty wild movie for me at that age. And, my basic take away was Nicky Cruz was cool. So...

I have compiled a pretty good list of Christian films.

I would highly recommend checking my threads here (if you have not seen them already):

Probably the last movie that I saw that meets the criteria in the OP (Christian themes, no fantasy elements) was The Passion of the Christ. A difficult watch, and not a light-hearted family-friendly movie, but good to have seen once.

You should check out Time Changer. Really a great Christian film.

My question answers your question.
With what words have you answered the question:
Is it fair to make assertions (that some disagree with) and then make discussion of such assertions off limits to the thread?
A direct, rather than cryptic, answer would be appreciated.

I cannot respond beyond a cryptic response without getting in trouble here on the forums.

May God's good ways be upon you today.

I like many Christian films. One in particular is, "Barabbas" staring Anthony Quinn. Older film but just something about it that held my attention. Of course it's pure speculation on what happened to Barabbas beyond being set free but this movie is entertaining. Yes Jesus took everyone's place as a substitute for sin but with Barabbas it was such a pronounced demonstration that the righteous one Jesus took the place of Barabbas an evil doer.

I've seen a lot of films of the crucifixion. It always seems weak to me how they did the three hours of darkness at the cross. Matt 27:45 They always make it a rain storm but the Bible doesn't say that. It merely says it was a darkness. Not even an eclipse for total darkness with such doesn't come anywhere near to three hours. I think this was a supernatural thing which caused a Roman at the cross state, "Surely this was the Son of God" Barabbas movie kind of plays out the darkness this way.

The film really empathizes how we're to really think about this life as a world where one isn't to put too much affection upon but to know what Peter states that we're really to look to a new heavens and new earth where this present one will eventually pass away. 2 Pt 3:10

One can easily loose their joy if it's attached to what happens or doesn't happen in the present earthly kingdoms. I found the Barabbas film helped by making it clear to me our main focus is really to be upon the new world to come or like Abraham of old looked for a new city and kingdom of God. Heb 10:11 So should we. I think in our present day where people are disappointed about certain things they need to keep this in mind.

Cool biblical message. I have a difficulty in watching older classics. There was only one old classic movie I loved growing up (starring Jack Lemmon) because I was into comics heavily back then. I may have to give this one a try despite my handicap. Thank you so much for mentioning the film, brother.

Peace and blessings be unto you in the Lord today.

Well, apparently I cannot list the last Christian movie that I watched since, you have said it isn't Christian, yet it is.

Edit: Actually, my girlfriend reminded me that I watched part of the movie she was watching called Priest. Basically, a Priest in the movie's time period that eradicates Vampires. They are doing the Lord's work and God and the Bible are mentioned several times throughout in a good way.

Dressing up a pig does not make it clean. Horror films are not Christian movies. We are told, “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” (1 Corinthians 15:33). So I am sorry, my friend. That is not a Christian film, either. Please post a Christian films according to the thread rule that I have created at the onset of the OP.

May God's peace be upon you.

Side Note:

I remember one time back in my hometown at work, some guys were watching on TV a bunch of zombies. Both my brother and I had felt sick to our stomachs by what we had seen; We both almost felt ill. I believe such a thing happened because God was trying to let us know that He does not like things that are of darkness. The thing is that before I rededicated my life back to Christ, I did not have a problem with these kinds of things before. I had a knowledge of Jesus, but it did not really hit my heart and life before I made the choice to follow Jesus for real.

Okay then. The last Christian movie that I have watched was The Greatest Story Ever Told, which is old! Last time I saw it I was a kid.

No other Christian movies have seemed interesting to me.

I just watched Polycarp.
Excellent Christian movie.
It is very heart felt, and definitely makes you tear up and cheer for the faith.
Today, Christians in safe suburbs do not really want to think about what Christians have gone through for their faith. The self sacrifice that they have made for Christ. Even in other countries today, Christians are persecuted for their faith in Jesus.

I am adding this to my Honorable Mentions List of Christian films under my Most Rewatchable Christian Films List.

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

I think you mean "will not" rather than "cannot".

Surely I can, but why would I hinder my efforts in preaching the Word of God and in connecting with other believers? There are rules to this forum that we have to follow. We may not agree with all of these rules, but we have to follow them if we want to post here.

I watched Polycarp again, but this time with my wife. She enjoyed it except for the ending. She prefers more happy endings in her movies. I seen it as a film of how we must die to ourselves and stand up for our Lord. But she liked the parts in the film between the protoganist girl and the Christian family. The actor who played Polycarp was really talented and he looked like he was a prophet that stepped right out of Bible.

Just seen Assassin A.D.

I initially did not want to see this film because the trailer made the movie to look ultra cheesy. But I was surprised. This was actually pretty good if you watch it as a made for TV movie. I don't think I would own the movie or anything because they temporarily made changes to the timeline of the life of Christ that I do not think is possible, but it had some really good biblical messages and a few funny moments (even if the time travel mechanics do not make a whole lot of sense).

You can watch it for free on Amazon streaming if you have Amazon Prime.

Amazon.com: Assassin 33 A.D.: Heidi Montag, Donny Boaz, Susan Gallagher, Jim Carroll

Again, this is not a perfect film, but it is entertaining and has a few good biblical messages.

I watched the majority of “the making of” for Polycarp, and then I watched the Christian film called “Finding Normal” last night with my wife.

The “making of” for Polycarp was really an eye opener. The director was really super young looking, and I did not expect that the film idea started off as a part of a church. They created some really impressive sets.

Finding Normal was good to watch again. It shows us that the most important things in life are not things or a rich lifestyle.
