Are Democrats going to do everything the same in 2020?

Hillary Clinton supporters crying 3.jpg

2016 was a shocking upset for the left since they absolutely believed that Donald Trump didn't have a chance of winning. How could he win with the mainstream media running headline hit pieces on him every day while telling the world that he was going to lose? In the end, Hollywood and the crooked mainstream media failed to get Hillary Clinton elected. But it seems like Democrats will repeat all of their mistakes since they are blaming their election loss on everyone and everything without looking in the mirror at the things they did wrong. Here's an article on the Democrat's 2016 election loss:

Obama’s legacy of losing: Democrats decimated in Congress, DNC in disarray
As their majorities in Congress slipped away and they ceded the lead in governorships over the past six years, President Obama and his top lieutenants comforted themselves with the changing demographics that they said would make it impossible for a Republican to win the top job.

Donald Trump punctured that belief in stunning fashion last week, sending Democratic voters scrambling to make sense of their losses and igniting a new battle for the party’s soul that promises to last for months. More

I'd say so. Liberal parties on both sides of the Atlantic are run by a bunch of entitled elitists and are so far removed from what the average person is experiencing, that they cannot understand why they lost, let alone what they need to do to correct it.

The only thing that has to happen in the next 4 years is good jobs growth (not temp or part time) and health insurance premiums going down and Trump will win reelection or whoever the next Republican put up.

The other thing is what Tucker Carlson said Obama is not going to leave the public stage and will over shadow any future Democrat leader

Not infrequently in history, it is necessary to wait for the old system to die out. Political parties experience rebirths from time to time and occasionally simply die out and are replaced. Democrats are well along the latter path if one looks at the aging demographics of Democrat office holders nationwide.

It is more than a little ironic that while many Democrats, as you already pointed out, proclaimed Republicans to be aging and dying out, the reality is that it is now Democrat office holders who are old, tired and vanishing. That holds true for the liberal press as well.

It could, of course, all change tomorrow. Stay tuned ...

I just hope they have a decent candidate. Maybe somebody like Biden but he refused to run this election so I don't know if he would consider it. I wouldn't vote him or any other Democrat but I would be happy knowing that the candidate is viable.

Thanks for underscoring my point about aging Democrats.

Joe Biden will be 78 years old in 2020 and 82 years old in 2024.

In 2020 the Democrats will put forward some candidate with little popularity or awareness of issues which matter to voters. They will initially panic about this, but then discover that all of their friends think that it is impossible that anyone would vote for Trump twice in a row, so it doesn't matter who the candidate is. Later, Nate Silver will give Trump only a 20% chance of being reelected, and as Democrats have no reason to doubt Nate Silver's predictive abilities, they will be sure that they have nothing to worry about.

Hmm... Maybe the average person should have worked a little harder and tried to better themselves a little more and they wouldn't have found themselves in such a bind.

I went to college. I worked hard. I kept my nose clean. I learned to be courteous and professional. I moved away from home to find more opportunities. I worked multiple jobs and denied myself luxuries in order to improve my financial stability. I learned to appreciate culture and become more well-rounded. I learned to read and parse arguments and to thoughtfully weigh them against each other. In short, I did everything that everybody in my (poor-ish, working class) family and church taught me to do. And now that makes me an elitist?

I understand why we lost. And I don't disagree that maybe I'm out of touch with "the average person". But who's fault is that? Is it mine? Or is it the fault of the people who didn't put in as much effort to better themselves? These charges of elitism sound more and more like excuses for people who are stuck being lazy, unmotivated, and unwilling to challenge themselves.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not with that first line...

Assuming not, I agree with the idea of working hard, etc. etc. etc. but I also recognize that things can happen outside of your control. For a lot of people, the jobs simply came back after the 08 recession, or if they did, they were McJobs. Add to this the rise of intersectional/identity politics and you have a huge swathe of middle Americans who were not only suffering, but demonized as having it too good.

As for being elitist, I'm not necessarily talking about you. I'm talking about people like CNN's Van Jones, who blamed the election on a so-called 'whitelash' against Obama and then went to Ohio to meet some of the people who voted for Trump. Van Jones has a net worth of over a million, IRC, and you had him on his show talking to people who were definitely your average Americans who were struggling, and it blew his mind they weren't white Nationalists.

Then you have people online or off who push the idea that minorities cannot be racist, women cannot be sexist, etc. etc. So you have extremists in groups like the BLM movement calling for the murder of whites and cops, and when someone says that sounds hateful or they happen to share their belief that there should be less genders than Baskin Robbins has flavors, they're shouted down and told to check their privilege.

So all this talk about how hateful or stupid Trump supporters are... it's the same thing that made the liberals lose last time.

BTW, if you're not lazy, change your user title. You aren't a Newbie, you were here last time I was.:puff:

Democrats aren't much different than Republicans. Except more
Republicans complain on intenet. Because some are to lazy to protest. I'm sure on both sides people go to far. I hope in 2020 we elect a better president. So less protesting happens. I'm sure many republicans, that didn't vote for Trump got of their lazy behinds to protest.

I understand why we lost.
Democrats ran a terrible candidate ... because they assumed they couldn't lose.
And I don't disagree that maybe I'm out of touch with "the average person". But who's fault is that? Is it mine?
How's your humility quotient?

My father taught me when I was young that I could learn something from even the most ignorant fool. It's a lesson I never forgot.
Or is it the fault of the people who didn't put in as much effort to better themselves?
That's not the issue in flyover country. Many of us have bettered ourselves in addition to working hard and contributing to society for years.

Certain issues have been entirely detached from reality and exist only in the ideological domain. The ethanol subsidy is one such example. Even folks in Iowa, where ethanol has been a political cash cow, voted for a candidate opposed to the ethanol mandate. Even most folks here understand that ethanol is counterproductive to its stated aims.

Yet, despite that, politicians still can't resist lying and pretending true is false when money is involved.

Common sense rules. When the emporer has no clothes, people see that. Pretending that the emporer must be viewed from, say, the perspective of an abstract artist where anything goes isn't going to persuade them otherwise.
These charges of elitism sound more and more like excuses for people who are stuck being lazy, unmotivated, and unwilling to challenge themselves.
Nah, the simple fact is that we now have a political elite class in this country which exists mostly to perpetuate itself.

Is there a better explanation for the FACT that this past election was presaged as a contest between two political dynasties, the Clintons and the Bushes. The further FACT that voters rejected both dynasties should serve as a wake-up call to those in the elite class. Hopefully, some will hear the call ... but it certainly doesn't look like very many have yet accepted that new reality.

There will be at least one major change: Hillary Clinton will not be the Democratic candidate. Indeed, the sad fact is that she may not even be alive in four years' time.
