Well, it's mind over matter; having the motivation to keep it up!I did my indoor walk today. I'm strangely unmotivated to do more today. Not sure what's up with that.

Just image, say, artherosclerosis (or however you spell it) in a few years' time; then, exercising now will seem much more attractive and sensible...You are sooo right!

Oh, well, sounds like you're usually well organized...Motivation is generally not an issue for me. I love to work out and had time off from work and more time to work out, so it seemed really strange that I wasn't motivated that day. Then it turned out I was developing a cold and just feeling blaaaaah. That was the culprit. I'm still a little worn down from it, but keeping moderately active, curling the vitamin C and colloidal siliver bottles several times a day, along with my walks and some light upper body work.
Eat too much? I know the problem...Knowing that I was able to sustain quite a bit of strenuous aerobic activity with snow shoveling this past week, I amped up my treadmill walk today. I went faster and at a higher incline than I had been. I got the 100 greatest Motown hits to make the time go by faster.
I did eat too much today, though--and I didn't do my neck exercises. I am glad I finally got on the treadmill at noon; I had procrastinated all morning.
I bookmarked that site. I like the idea of a leader and a class. I think I will have enough room to walk in place; I have a massive coffee table that takes up practically the whole room.
I was discouraged today. I walked up a slight hill outside to my car that was parked far away--and my chest and lungs started to hurt, and I was winded! (My heart is in very good shape, BTW). I rode in the car for awhile, then walked a good distance to a supermarket and back to the car. No problem, but there was no incline.
Hi, Ephesians 6:1011. I have been eating modestly and healthily for a grand total of 3 days--but I when low on breakfast and lunch today, because I'm taking my youngest son out for his belated birthday present tonight: a jazz concert at the Kennedy Center! We'll have plenty of time beforehand to eat dinner at the cafe. I'll do my best to make good choices, but I left room in case there are any hidden sauces, fats, etc. I want to relax and have a good time.
The Lord has been blessing me with a chilled attitude. So far I'm just doing what I'm supposed to do--no super-hype, no starvation. If I get hungry, I just make some microwave popcorn. You can eat lots and get filled with really low calories.
I did 20 minutes on the treadmill today: 3 mph, 4% incline. It lit up bars on the dashbar: all of "warm-up," all of "fat burn," and the first one of "aerobic." I felt good breaking into aerobic! I did sweat after about ten minutes.
I also joined a site called "Lose It!" that calculates how long it will take you to lose however many pounds you want at whatever rate you choose. It also is an encyclopedia of brand-name foods with the number of calories per portion!
Furthermore, it has a forum, where I read for the first time of BMR--basal metabolic rate. There's a certain number of calories required to maintain your BMR. It is highly recommended that you keep your diet calorie level above your BMR--otherwise, you'll stall out after a month and your metabolism will change.
Right now I am charted to lose 26 pounds (167 now, goal of 140) at a rate of 1 pound/week. My daily suggested calorie intake is 40 above my BMR number. As I lose weight (Lord willing I will maintain progress), you're supposed to keep checking your BMR number, because as you lose weight the number of calories you need decreases: but the Lose It! program automatically calculates the calories you need.
I am slated to lose my 26 pounds by Aug. 10.
I am praying for grace!
The Lose It! website also has a very active and encouraging forum--it's so active you really can't keep up!
