Who said anything about it not mattering? If anyone suddenly suggested an enforced moment of silence for any of those tragedies you just mentioned, would you feel they were necessary or served any meaningful purpose?
Edit: I mention that it happened 15 years ago because that means it's not exactly a raw trauma. The world has kept going. Sections of the US should, too. No one's saying it didn't happen, or that it doesn't matter, or that it wasn't tragic, but there comes a point, you know? Some of you positively WALLOW in the whole 9/11 thing, as if it's the defining moment of history, that justifies anything, and demands constant ashes and sackcloth. Its not healthy. How many other countries have suffered tragedies on a comparable scale to 9/11 in the last 15 years? How many of them use it as a sort of moral touchstone like America does?
It's disrespectful, I think, to not even have a moment (like ten seconds) of silence for the victims of 9/11, and I'm quite certain that in France there will be moments of silence for their own terrorist attack for years to come. One century, I understand, but 15 years? That's not enough time for the families of the victims to heal. They might not never be able to. And for these students to insert their self-assigned concerns and insist that their own personal feelings--namely, their desire to appease Muslims, most of which either sympathize with the victims or don't care if a moment of silence is held--is disgusting. But with the way these universities are these days, I guess you can't expect anything less. I can't wait for this crop to graduate and end the Pc era.Who's suggesting "disregarding it and acting as if it never happened"? Sure it happened. It happened 15 years ago. We've been at war (basically) because of it (basically) ever since.
I've never been part of an institution that enforced observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day, and frankly, I think likening 9/11 to the Holocaust in any way is grossly inappropriate. You must get really upset at Holocaust Remembrance Day.
How many other national tragedies do you want official "moments of silence" for? It's disrespectful, I think, to not even have a moment (like ten seconds) of silence for the victims of 9/11, and I'm quite certain that in France there will be moments of silence for their own terrorist attack for years to come. Good luck with that. You can also defeat Starbuck's evil plot against Christmas by ordering coffee in the name "Mary Christmas"For remembering 9/11/2001, someone should request a moment of sound. Then those who are offended by it will object and demand that it be a moment of silence.
When did I make a comment about Starbucks?Good luck with that. You can also defeat Starbuck's evil plot against Christmas by ordering coffee in the name "Mary Christmas"
Re Islamophobia. I don't think the mere recognition that the 9/11 hijackers were Muslim or shouted Islamic slogans should be classified as Islamophobia. It's just when people jump from that to group blame and prejudice towards all billion (or whatever number of) Muslims there are in the world or Muslim citizens of the US in general that it often turns Islamophobic.
-"Kill white people!" = not racist.
-Black silhouettes at shooting range = racist.
Yeah, about wraps that up. Liberals should be banned from using the word 'racist'.
Let anyone offended by it be offended by it. They deserve to be offended if it offends them, and nobody should care about their feelings. I'm at the point where I believe political correctness is flat out a mental illness.
And, on just a couple threads over there is a denial that there were or are any Muslims who applaud 9/11. So it's not just childish students, it's the whole rest of the Left with their worship of Muslims as well.
It's more like liberals ignore blacks killing other blacks while one "white" cop killing a black thug they cry racist. They don't realize they are the one who are racist when they only care when a murder and/or shooting fits their world view to make them feel superior.-"Kill white people!" = not racist.
