CCM Star Jennifer Knapp Comes Back and Comes Out

the biggest problem isn't the sin it's the fact that someone who claims to be a Christian is saying to the world I'm going to keep on sinning because I like it and you have to accept me and cant say anything against me without judging me. to that, Paul says to cast out the immoral brother or sister in this case. I Corinthians 5 if anyone believes in scripture. can she be forgiven and restored....of course, but the choice is hers.

That is exactly correct and soundly scriptural.

Exactly, as I mentioned 3 or 4 pages ago. The biggest problem in this thread is that some posters are siding with Sodom and Gomorrah instead of God. Jennifer Knapp has clearly done this as well.

sad that standing for Christian values is despised by so many on a so called Christian forum. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, Judas was in the very presence of God for 3 years and didn't get it either.

Interesting. So did you see her interview then?

If you read the entire thread you would have seen that that was addressed 18 posts ago.

I rather agree, but still, I hardly think this thread fulfills anything like what you described. It seems mostly to be a place where we can smugly wriggle in our own perceived righteousness and condemn another, which I don't think is what you were describing.

since we are talking personal opinion, mine is that homosexual acts are perverse and detestable. judge me if you wish

At least you admit it's your opinion rather than spouting pompous assertions of illegetimate authority.

We both agree (I hope?) that homosexuality is a sin.

You may, I don't.

How can anyone with a straight face look at this passage of the interview and deny that Jennifer Knapp is practicing her sin? She admits it!

She's not "admitted" doing anything wrong. There is no sin whatsoever in what she "admitted".

she's admitting that it's not even a struggle for her.

Good. It shouldn't be.

she's been content to live in it for 8 years, despite what the Word says and what her church says.

I may be wrong but I don't think her particular church affiliation was addressed. Many churches do not believe the notion homosexuality is a sin.

How would you describe the issue of homosexuality, Texas Lynn? I'm very interested.

I don't have an "issue" with it. I don't consider folks' capacities to love to be an "issue". The issue is the prejudice being advocated against LGBTs.

I am simply saddened that she has chosen to walk in her existence in this type of lifestyle.

The use of the sneering term "lifestyle" to denigrate another's capacity to love is most unfortunate.

And what would be your definition then? I think the term "lifestyle" is used by the homosexual community as well. What about "same-sex relationship"? Would that do? It is a choice of words that aim to describe not denigrate anything. So whatever you call it it is a way of living one's life based on a choice to have a relationship with the same sex partner.

You may, I don't.

I still don't understand why not, and I'm guessing no amount of Scripture will influence your opinion on this matter, which is a shame.

Good. It shouldn't be.

I just don't understand how you're basically deciding what is sin and what isn't sin in this thread (which you know you just did above), and anyone who cites Scripture, you seem to waive off like it's their own written opinion. Do you really believe that homosexuality is translated incorrectly in the dozen or so verses that airo and several other people listed? Was God joking when he called man lying down with man and woman with woman an abomination, and Paul, whom He personally qualified to establish and lead the Gentile church, joking when He said over and over that the people that do those things will not inherit the kingdom of heaven?

I may be wrong but I don't think her particular church affiliation was addressed. Many churches do not believe the notion homosexuality is a sin.

She mentions in the interview how her own church (and others) took issue with it and says that she doesn't even go anymore.

Many churches are also not adhering to the authority of Scripture. That doesn't suddenly make it OK.

I don't have an "issue" with it. I don't consider folks' capacities to love to be an "issue". The issue is the prejudice being advocated against LGBTs.

Does a "capacity to love" have to include intercourse? Do I have to do that with men as well as women to fulfill God's calling to "love my neighbor as myself"? It's OK for you and I to love LGBTs, Texas Lynn. But we shouldn't compromise Scripture to do it. Let's not change the definition of practice, lifestyle, and sin in order to feel better about how we approach the situation.

Yes, it is sad and most unfortunate. And no, we shouldn't be surprised that so many who profess Christ are so much like the world. This is because not everyone who names the Name of Christ is genuinely saved (Matthew 7:21-23; 2 Timothy 2:19).

Oh, I wasn't aware that defending the faith and calling sin for what it is was considered "holier than thou". Silly us who stand for the truth of God's Word.

Since you and I refuse to conform to this world (condoning and accepting what it condones and accepts as right and wrong), we will have to face such accusations, even from those who claim to be of the Body of Christ (2 Timothy 3:12). Because we take a firm, uncompromising stand against the sin of homosexuality, we will face ridicule from those who do not. Since we shine the Light of God's Word into the darkness of sin, we can expect to come up against staunch opposition (John 3:20). That is why we are commended to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and to fight the good of faith (1 Timothy 6:12).

Amen, dear sister. I have only one thing to add to your presentation of the truth here:

John 15 18 "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
