We all know McCain will be a one term president, so I think he picked her and not ROmney because he knew this election would be more about the VPs in some respects.
I don't care how common that phrase is getting, it does NOT belong in this forum.
I don't know why I have to do this but seeing as no women have mentioned the "First Dude" of Alaska, I guess I have to. From IronDog.com:

I thought they had 5 kids?
That's one thing I don't like about her at all. I have no use for today's american labor unions.
Her Christian faith–Palin grew up attending nondenominational Bible churches–was a minor issue in the race. She told me her faith affects her politics this way: “I believe everything happens for a purpose. In my own personal life, if I dedicated back to my Creator what I’m trying to create for the good . . . everything will turn out fine.” That same concept applies to her political career, she suggested.
Gov. Palin grew up in Wasilla, where as star of her high school basketball team she got the nickname “Sarah Barracuda” for her fierce competitiveness. She led her underdog team to the state basketball championship. Palin also won the Miss Wasilla beauty contest, in which she was named Miss Congeniality, and went on to compete in the Miss Alaska pageant.
How about this nickname and highschool background! I am liking her personality more and more I read!

She unfortunately also has an amount of scandal associated with her office.....
how cool though that this election will see wither the first woman as VP or the first non-white person as Prez. That's pretty cool.
