*pfffffffff*

Spits drink onto monitor.

Well, that's certainly something I did not expect in Young Adults
Lots of people in the Young Adult age range probably touch. I don't see why it couldn't be in this section.

Anywho, I voted "Yes, its ok." But I'm also completely apathetic. Regardless of whether people feel its wrong or were brought up to think of it as dirty, it is considered healthy from what I've read, and I imagine plenty of people touch, even if it is in direct contrast to what their faith dictates.

To get to the point of masturbating, GENERALLY, one should be aroused. This usually involves lust.

Lust is the issue. Not so much the act of masturbation.

IMHO.

I voted other.

ditto that..

although now that I voted other I am thinking I probably should have said yes...

I don't reckon it would be possible to touch without lust...but who knows...

Hmm. I dunno. Other sex sins in the Bible like homosexuality and incest have health consequences. But I haven't heard of one health consequence for masturbation. Doctors have even said it has health benefits. And the Bible is silent on the issue.

But I believe lust is wrong. Can you touch without lusting?

Is it okay to do with another person?

Okay, then why think it's okay to do with yourself....

Oh almost forgot. Masturbation is fine, just because you might be thinking about something less than appropriate while doing it doesn't make you a bad person.

First of all, I voted yes, masturbation is okay. I personally have never done it, but I do not feel that I need to.

I think it is a sin

In response to your comment, where in the bible does it state that masturbation is a sin. Yes, I've seen lusting after someone else, but where does it state masturbation specifically. I know other people and myself (if I were to do it) would just picture an image, but no one specifically. That is not lusting after someone - there is no someone to lust after. How would we be committing a sin?

it is not just the lust, but the act in and of itself,
look up Onan, genesis 38
Also, it is a sexaul act and it is not sex, so that is why I called it un-natural.
I think you guys are right that the Bible does not specificly talk about touching yourself, but St. Paul talks about "sexual immorality" a lot and it is not a huge leap to see touching yourself falling into that catagory.
Also, I know this answer will not fly for most of you folk on here but even though it is not spelled out in the Bible I still think it is a sin because I trust the Catholic Church, this is just my personal justification

I just can't believe that such a common, timeless practice such as masturbation, if it was indeed a sin, would not be mentioned specifically in the Bible. If it was a sin they would have mentioned it! As it is, it's not talked about at all.

Onan was not masturbating. He was using the withdrawal method so he wouldn't get whoever he was having sex with pregnant. God wanted him to get whoever he was having sex with pregnant, so he disobeyed God by not [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] inside her. The reason why God was angry was because Onan deliberately disobeyed his wishes.

Oh please read the whole thing

Then Judah said to Onan, "Lie with your brother's wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother." 9 But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his sperm on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. 10 What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so he put him to death also

The wicked part of it was the fact that he refused to fulfill his duty as the brother in law and impregnate her. Not that he masterbated, he just [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] outside of her because he didn't want her to be pregnant.

I think you've got a long way to prove that this is "not natural". There is nothing in the bible that indicates its not natural and nature actually backs up that it is natural. I keep birds and most of them touch.

I think you guys are right that the Bible does not specificly talk about touching yourself, but St. Paul talks about "sexual immorality" a lot and it is not a huge leap to see touching yourself falling into that catagory.

Ehh maybe but its the strongest case you have. I personally interprete sexual immorality by letting scripture interprete scripture. That would mean sexual immorality is homosexuality, beasitality, fornication, lust, and incest. (from what I can think of off-hand there may be others).

Also, I know this answer will not fly for most of you folk on here but even though it is not spelled out in the Bible I still think it is a sin because I trust the Catholic Church, this is just my personal justification

Ok, I don't know what about the Catholic church has given you or anyone cause to trust them but if that is your choice I can't change your mind.

Honestly I can list out lots of reason why I don't trust the teachings of the Catholic church.
