Great. A person who played a personality on tv, but spent his resources on charity for kids with cancer and autism is fired, and his reputation is trashed. Meanwhile all the raps singers who denigrate black women far worse than he did in his 3 second brain-fart are popular heros. Yay. :sigh:

Exactly!

Probably because they make far more money off the rappers than they do Imus..oh my!

I agree that rappers seem to get a free ride. On the other hand, two wrongs don't make a right. If Imus's actions were wrong, they were wrong even if somebody else does the same thing and worse.

Welcome to America, where bad is good, wrong is right, and night is day.

We live in a country that's like some sort of crazy supermarket where somebody has gone in and changed all the price stickers around, so anything that really amounts to something is considered next to worthless and not wasting time on, while the stuff that's actually cheap, tacky trash has mega price tags on it, and everybody fights to get the last one before the store runs out.

Racism is alive and well. And it will continue as long as HYPOCRITES like Rev. Al and Jessie are the spokesmen.

The lack of effort on your part to to backup your statement that Imus sponsers bailed because of Sharpton tells me that there is no evidence whatsoever that this is true.

SOAD,
First, you can deny all you want, but that doesn't make it so.

Second, Rev. Al and Jessie started boycots; WHY? Duh!
Third, they were calling for his firing from the start.
Fourth, they are taking credit for it.
Fifth, do you really think NBC and CBS are going to come out and say Al and Jessie had a lot to do with the firing? NOT HARDLY.

And by the way, I am flattered that you would make a declaration that if I can't back up my statement then it must not be true. WOW! I didn't realize I was that important that if I couldn't produce....

I am probaly going to get flamed for this and possibly even banned... He should not have been fired. This is hypocrisy, double-standards and just stupid. Why was he fired when you see on TV Carlos Mencia or Dave Chappelle using racial slurs all the time. Alot of the african-american comic's act is "white people are like this and black people are like this." Or rappers who say a well known word or talk about smacking women or doing drugs. What about that Kramer guy whose name escapes me for the moment. He was heckled and finally snapped. If you watched The Daily Buzz and watched all the anchors cringe and squirm when they gave their opinion you will see my next complaint...Why do white people have to fear stating their opinion because someone will get mad. Its not like they are wanting to dress up in white cloaks and hoods. While I really disagree with Imus's choice of words I also disagree with the amount of hypocrisy flying around this. Racism is bad no matter what color sex or religion you are. There shouldnt be one set of people that are allowed to say something about another group of people and get away with it while the other group pretty much has to say "Thank you sir may I have another?" Lets just get rid of this kind of speech on both sides. If Carlos Mencia or Imus cant get good ratings or come up with better material because they cant be racist then so be it. Now let the flaming begin. Sorry to intrude. God Bless

BTW don't call me a racist because I feel frightened enough about posting this contraversial post enough already. I am not a racist, so God Bless!

I think you'll find many people agree with you.

I wouldn't call for his firing but Imus dug his own grave so I can understand why he was fired. But at the same time, other radio & TV personalities make sexist or racist remarks & nothing happens.

It just seems like bad timing on Imus' part. He happened to be the person in the line of fire. Also, he made comments that touched on some of our worst stereotypes in society. Those two issues created a perfect storm of sorts that resulted in his firing.

why are you deflecting it from imus and on to the rappers?rap is totally different from what IMUS did,he abused his position on FCC regualted airwaves, you may remember when tim hardaway was fired for comments about gays, why shouldnt imus not been fired?and you fail to see the context that blacks use such terms.i am black myself and around family especially the men the term isnt said with malicious intent....Now if i were to say it to someone i dont know, you would be reading my obit.Kramer didnt snap, closet racism has a way of coming out,and that is what happened to imus,he's been that way for yrs.if you wanna talk double standard, why not talk about the white power structure in america that oppressed blacks and poor whites.look at the duke case, fox news and others are trashing the victim(yes i said victim)b/c just b/c they were cleared that doesnt mean a crime didnt take place.the trashing if al and jesse needs to stop.

What I want to know is why Sharpton and Jackson are taken seriously by anybody. The both of them are nothing but two-bit race hustlers and media pimps.
nightflight, who says they are race-hustlers?the media?and u base it on what the mostly white media says? LOL,jesse jackson has done more for civil rights than we will in our lifetimes.blacks didnt start racism,I know for a fact that those of you in here who say ur christians see the injustices black ppl face everyday, but ur scare to speak out.WHY?????
i am no racist, but it seems to me that white ppl dont wanna confront the racism blacks face,b/c it would require them to become part of the solution.as long as they get there $500,000 homes ETC.....they turn a blind eye,PPL who stand for nothing will fall for anything.

All I can say is we've got problems coming down the pike that are going to make people desperately wish our biggest social issues were Don Imus's mouth and who fathered Anna Nicole Smith's baby, and who Donald Trump fired this week.

When oil hits $120 a barrel and the blackouts begin, no one's going to care about any of this.

I don't think you're a racist at all. This really has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with business.

Of course he should be fired. His show lost most of its advertising revenue. When an employee devestates the bottom line of your company, you're going to boot him. Otherwise, how do you plan to pay his salary...with Monopoly money?

Ok, if you want a link.

http://wcbstv.com/topstories/local_story_104002437.html

Pay special attention to paragraph 3: Sharpton was figured prominently in the firing of Don Imus," Attorney Charlie King said in an statement early Saturday morning.

Enough of this sillyness.

Nice link. Did you notice the title?

Rev. Sharpton Receives Death Threats

Imus may be out of a job, but it is Sharpton receiving the death threats.

Here was your quote:
Why of course Sharpton has much to do with Imus' sponsers bailing out. Sharpton keeps his mouth shut, it goes away; Sharpton runs to any friendly camera [and he loves any camera] and yells, sponsers fold
Your link claims that Sharpton as figured prominently in the firing of Don Imus. It doesn't say that Sharpton had much to do with the sponsers bailing out. I suppose you want me to assume that is what was meant?
