Um, which names are you referring to? Here's the KJV text of 2 Sam 21:19: And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. Notice the italicized phrase "the brother of", which means the KJV has inserted those words because they don't appear in the source document. Compare this with 1 Chron 20:5: And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver’s beam. No insertion of words here; "the brother of" was in the source text.

So the source documents from which the authors of the KJV derived 2 Samuel 21:19 and 1 Chronicles 20:5 do not agree with each other -- they do not say the same thing. And yet the KJV has made them identical in meaning. Even if Elhanan and David are the same people the KJV is still making an error by changing the translation! But David is not identified as Elhanan anywhere else in Scripture, nor is Jair identified as another name for Jesse. 2 Sam 21:15-22 is in the context of wars between the Israelites and the Philistines during David's reign, so verse 19 is not referring to Goliath being killed by David. But you won't recognize the possibility of scribal error (which in this case happened in the Hebrew document)!

This reminds me of that thread where you woudln't admit that ye and thee were better from the "ye must be born again" verse, you just never want to admit that you're WRONG about ANYTHING.
