What does "Kingdom against Kingdom" Mean in Matthew 24:7?

What exactly is a kingdom, anyway? Currently, we have nations with kings. We have countries that are allied together into blocks or alliances. But we don't have kingdoms. So if we don't have kingdoms then what is Matthew 24:7 even talking about?

Matthew 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

If you google kingdom in the Bible, you get the kingdom of heaven. But that's not right. I want some kind of organization of nations. Ultimately, I was left scratching my head. What is it talking about? For a long time, I tended to think it was referring to blocks of nations or alliances. In other words, a kingdom is bigger than nation but the definition was unclear.

Getting back to ground zero, I wondered that if kingdom meant the kingdom of heaven, then what could be the other kingdom? Well, it could be the kingdom of Satan because another name for the kingdom of heaven is the kingdom of God. And both kingdoms are here on Earth, although God's kingdom is not in great shape at the moment. That is what I ultimately settled on.

Definition:
Kingdom against kingdom in Matthew 24:7 means the kingdom of God against the kingdom of Satan. Given that both the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan are here on Earth, it means a full-on planetary upheaval.

Matthew 24:7 first mentions nation against nation. It appears to be taking conflict and war up a couple of levels when jumping to kingdom against kingdom. This is bigger than mere war between alliances. This is at the planetary level, and apparently everything is subject to upheaval.

It appears that the kingdom of Satan is prevailing over the kingdom of God after the arrival of the demonic Antichrist and the fake Jesus (false prophet.) With the wars and the mark of the beast, Christians should be decimated. But who is the Antichrist fighting against at Armageddon if Christians are gone? The kingdom of Satan appears to be split into two factions. This leads me to conclude that the purpose of the kingdom of Satan is not to rule. It is to conquer and destroy. When the dust settles, only demons will be standing. That's a feature, not a bug. Hence, Jesus must step in before the dust can settle.

The confusing language of Matthew 24:7 is meant to hide the seriousness of what the entire world will be confronting during the end-times: Independence Day the movie where the aliens win, and then they lose to Jesus. But the entire planet is pretty much a big wreck.
