Caring For God's Creation

I believe that while caring for other people and sharing God's Word should come first, we should also care for the earth and the creation that God has given us (but of course, we should do it the right way without violating Christian morals and values).

I have heard other Christians claim that caring for the earth means worshiping it. I don't think this is true. We care for ourselves, for our families and friends, for our pets...that's not the same as worshiping them. You can love and care about something without worshiping it. Same goes for caring for creation.

I have also heard claims that caring for the earth is not important, but this is not true. After all, God didn't create this world so we could trash it and destroy it. He created it as a place for us to live while we're in our earthly bodies, filled with beautiful nature that shows us His glory and majesty. Would you want someone trashing and messing up things you created?

Think about it this way: taking care of the the environment actually does involve caring for other people BECAUSE if we mess it up too much, there may be no food, water, fuel, space, or beautiful nature for people of the future to enjoy. Do you want your descendants to have a poor life like that?
