I've seen videos from farmers that claimed the government ordered them to destroy their crops. They got paid more than market price too. The food shortage was done intentionally and has nothing to do with Russia.

Add to that the fact that large corporations and people like Bill Gates has been buying up all the farmland doesn't help. Bill Gates is now the biggest holder of farmland in the USA, and obviously isn't buying it so he can be a farmer. He also wants people to stop eating meat, so don't count on him raising cows, or chickens or pigs.

I also saw some where Ranchers were complaining they weren't allowed to give water to their animals, some type of drought so they had to kill them. Another said they couldn't get feed for the animals so those were killed. Not enough people to slaughter and use the meat so all a waste of life and food.

Even when there is enough people and feed, they're wasting it. Do you like chicken and/or eggs? Well, they're being slaughtered and thrown away now in different places.
Starting in Wisconsin, 2.7 million chickens:
Wisconsin will kill off 2.7 million chickens to stop spread of lethal bird flu

570,000 in Nebraska:Lethal bird flu found in Nebraska commercial chicken flock
Lethal bird flu found in Nebraska commercial chicken flock

Another 5 million in Iowa, with 13 million in total over a total of 17 states--so far:
Bird flu update as 13M birds dead, emergency measures in Iowa, Arkansas

All this, even though there was already a chicken shortage, and egg prices are already doubled in price.

Bird flu is destroying a lot of poultry in several states. Millions were put down. That has a direct impact on supply. The fertilizer problem will reduce yields. And a lack of corn affects feed and numerous items.

Buy accordingly. Stock up on the items with impending shortages before they’re announced to the public. They’re predicting this will last for years. Grains and legumes are a must. Get them in large quantities.

And buy whatever you can use by the expiration date--and rotate your stock you eat the oldest stuff first and keep the rest of the stock from aging.
If you use one can of Peas per week and it has an expiration date 2 years from now, go ahead and stock up to 104 cans of Peas (at most).

One great thing about modern food versus back in biblical times is that shelf life is way better. If you have the money and space, you can stock a couple year's worth of food if it's canned. Much of that can actually last 3 to 5 years, but a year's worth is reasonable. Easy enough for a single person. But if it's a family of 6 you're trying to support, then you may just want to store closer to 6 months unless you have a big warehouse to keep it all in. (the food, not the family):)

Viewer submitted shortage updates and practices

Mentions…

Stockpiling (by the store for higher revenue)
Expired food
Double stamp expiration dates
Purchase limits
Grain heading to China
Diesel shortage
Farmer response to fuel hikes

Watched the entire video and he did mention double stamped expiration dates. I'm not familiar with that term and couldn't find it using Google either. What does it mean?

Nor have I. It appears double stamping made the date unreadable.

I see.
I was afraid it meant that outdated canned food was being redated. That wouldn't be good.
I haven't seen any problems with double stamping making it unreadable. Usually the problem is that it's stamped on ridges of the lid that distort the numbers. Other cans bought at the same time usually will have the stamp in a slightly different place that is more readable.

What did Biden expect by imposing sanctions on Russia, and how can we be having food shortages, if the U.S. has all the climates to grow whatever fruits and vegetable it needs and also plenty of cattle and pigs and chickens?

A portion of our fertilizer comes from Russia - that's one reason, fertilizer is 4x higher to buy atm because of supply and demand.

With the sanctions on Russia, and the war in Ukraine affecting both planting and harvesting there, plus having a drought the previous year, there is a world shortage on wheat and oil in the middle east. This causes a supply and demand issue, especially with many countries like Hungary deciding to keep what grains they grow instead of selling to other countries.

Increased gas prices means increased costs of farming and shipping product as well.

As a result, the price of wheat and other grains is higher, I think it's at an historical high right now.

The historical high price is creating a situation where in the US, companies that normally buy product for processing - flour millers, farming cooperatives and more - aren't buying because they are worried they won't be able to resell at a profit.

Despite Robust Crops, US Farmers Cannot Sell Wheat Which Could Inflate Food Prices Further

Therefore, there won't be much finished product here to buy, which will drive prices even higher with a higher demand than there is product to purchase.

Pillsbury is already saying the best they will be able to fulfill this year is 80% of normal demand (when they normally fulfill upwards of 98 - 99%) for their finished products (biscuits, pizza dough etc) this year (up from the 70% they are at currently) because they are having severe issues getting the base ingredients (flour, oil etc) to run the products.

General Mills is struggling to deliver pizza and dough to supermarkets - CNN

As this situation wears on, only growing more acute with time, and individuals begin competing with major companies for base ingredients, what's available will be very pricey.

So yes, even in the US there will be food shortages. Cows eat grain, chicken's eat grain.. This grain situation will affect everything - even dog and cat food.

We haven't yet begun to feel what's happening, but it is happening even here.

Biden should've thought of that before imposing sanctions on Russia.

As Tucker pointed out the other night, the three major things any government is concerned with is food, energy and water.

These things were never a concern to the Biden administration. Tells you all you need to know.
