Unfortunately, people saying woe is us have been looking forward to salvation for 2000 years. Times in the past have been a lot worse than they are now although living condition wise, people in the past had a lot less to lose. But perhaps the idea is to not look forward for salvation all the time but to actually improve what we've got.
Salvation is now? We were given the second commandment for a reason. We've been shown how to save us from ourselves and it is not by using the same methods to rectify problems that caused them in the first place. That is man's backwards thinking. Perhaps it is time to take responsibility for our adversarial ways and get our acts together instead of only looking forward to some outside miraculous end. Show we are worthy of avoiding death. This would not be putting our will ahead of God's, simply because He has continually shown us where we have gone wrong and gave us the solution to bring about change. We've been relying on the wrong systems while hoping for rescue. We deserve what we get until we wake up.
