China Cry – Reaching The Chinese For Christ (Chinese/English)

Thanks

Keith
Well, Ephesians (chapter four, to be specific) has got just the right thing for us to spread the Gospel, whether that be to the Chinese, one of your own race, or to any other nationality, as this verse applies to every human. If you want to, feel free to translate this Ephesians analysis into Chinese. :)

DateApril 30, 2024
VerseEphesians 4:11-16 (ESV): "And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love."
ExplanationEphesians 4:11-16 describes the role of apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers in the early Christian community. Their primary task was to prepare the saints, or believers, for the work of spiritual leadership and to increase the number of Christ followers. The ultimate goal was for all believers to attain the unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God, mature into adulthood, and no longer be swayed by various doctrines or deceitful schemes.

This passage remains relevant today as it emphasizes the importance of unity, maturity, and the role of the body of Christ in the spiritual growth of each individual. It also highlights the need for believers to engage in respectful dialogue with those of different beliefs, fostering a community that grows and builds itself up in love.
Societal RelevanceIn modern society, Christians can spread the gospel in a respectful and considerate manner by:

1. Living a Christ-like life: The most powerful way to share the gospel is through the example of a believer's actions. By living a life that reflects the teachings of Christ, others may be drawn to the faith.

2. Speaking the truth in love: When sharing the gospel, it is essential to do so with kindness, respect, and compassion. This approach can help minimize offense and create an open and receptive environment for dialogue.

3. Listening and understanding: Seek to understand the perspectives and beliefs of others before sharing your own. This approach fosters respect and trust and may lead to deeper, more meaningful conversations.

4.Focusing on common ground: Identify shared values and beliefs with others and build upon those areas of agreement as a foundation for discussing the gospel.

5.Using clear and respectful language: Be mindful of the language used when sharing the gospel. Avoid inflammatory or divisive terms that may offend or alienate others.

Hi Alex

Sorry, I disagree with the first part of the statement, but I agree with the second part. The Gospel is spelt out in 1 Cor 15:3-4. It says, "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day."
So, the Gospel message is what Christ has done on the cross. It is a spoken message. Hence the verse in Romans 10:14. "How shall they hear without a preacher." It is not our nice way of living as many non-believers are also nice but they are not sharing the Gospel.
In saying this, I agree with part of the statement. Our actions can draw people to ask about our faith and also our actions can be a witness.
We can be either a good witness or a bad witness. If we do bad things, our word becomes compromised, and people will be less likely to believe what we say. The opposite of this is when we act in love, this will give our word credibility. For example, in a court of law, if you have 2 people with conflicting testimonies, one is a prostitute, and the other is a doctor. The doctor is the one most people would believe as his word is not compromised like the prostitute. He is a good witness.
So, your actions validate what you believe, and then, when you do say the Gospel, people will be more likely to believe what you say.
We need to be careful that we do share the Gospel out aloud. Our good deeds are not the power of God unto salvation. They only give our words credibility and then when we do say the Gospel, it will give glory to God. Staying silent is wrong.

Sadly, most churches have taken on this wrong understanding. They believe that by doing good deeds in the community, they are sharing the Gospel. Then they choose to neglect spoken evangelism. If they do speak the Gospel, it is often only once a person is in the four walls of the church. But Jesus said to "GO and preach the Gospel." Not to invite people into the church and then preach the Gospel.

Agreed. We must try to be a good witness, but the Gospel comes first. Then, our actions must try to stick to the good teachings of Jesus, even if we may fail sometimes.

一个可以向中国人讲的历史事件

In the 7th century AD, Pope Gregory once passed through a slave market in Rome and was attracted by a young man with yellow hair and blue eyes. When he learned that the young man was Anglo, the Pope said, "It's not Anglo, it's angel!" (Anglo sounds similar to Angel). From then on, he decided to send missionaries to England to preach. After about a hundred years of missionary work, England finally became a Christian country.

James Hudson Taylor (1832—1905) once met a Chinese. This Chinese asked him :"How long has Christianity been preached to U.K.?" . James told him," About 1000 years." This Chinese answered " Why so lately did you western people tell it to Chinese?"
