Go into all the world

Daring is not a word we often associate with Christianity. Yet, this was a required quality in the early evangelists. They had to dare Satan's world by invading it like sheep among wolves. Before the great commission, none of the twelve apostles had ever left Israel. They now dared to go out into foreign nations and lands full of strange customs, cultures, people, and dangers.

Peter and Paul were martyred in Rome. Tradition has it that Andrew was martyred in Greece, Philip in Turkey, Matthew in Ethiopia, Thomas in India, and Jude in Iran. As different as these men were, they all had one quality in common. They dared to believe that Jesus of Nazareth could save this fallen world. And they dared to die for that.

Today's missionaries need to be just as daring for Christ.

Today, missionaries don't have to travel around the world to perform. Just down the block or around the corner plenty of heathen and pagans can be found to preach and convert. Is it a Christian fashion statement to travel great distances to try to convert folks?

Edited for layout.

And yet, many of them don't even go to meet their neighbor to evangelize. Is it a pagan fashion to criticize those who travel the world to save the lost? So long.

Why not a laptop, zoom and a bible? (Much cheaper). Once a seed is planted - or a church - then send someone to ensure doctrine is established.
Great! How many have done that with their next-door neighbor? Technology is cheap and convenient. It has also made people risk averse. Cheap? Since when did a believer start judging the cost of a human soul in dollars and cents? You do realize that virtual can't replace the flesh? Don't you? If not, reread this verse, "the word became flesh," not a computer bot or tv screen. There were times when Paul couldn't travel to all the churches and reached out through letters. But he did travel mostly. Technology is a good tool for mass outreach but not a replacement for personal contact. You have hijacked the spirit of this message with your useless argument. May God have mercy on you. Goodbye.

You make a good point but it is up to God to determine where he wants his people to be.

Philippians 2:13

for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

BUT even if people aren't led by the Holy Spirit into missionary roles, we're all obligated to share the good news wherever we are.

The post was in the missions and evangelism section and for missionaries. Other modes of witnessing (preaching, teaching, etc.) will be discussed in other forums.

I agree with you Mukk_in. Today's missionaries do need to be daring. But so does every believer, even in our own towns.
If we truly believe in Jesus and what he done for us on the cross, then we should truly believe that the lost will be under Gods wrath. That is a terrible thing, and we cannot just stand by and let that happen. Without us telling them, they are doomed. So even us at home who are not missionaries need to pluck up the courage to say the Gospel to as many people as possible.
And if we feel as though we are not capable of sharing, we then need to equip ourselves. So, we need to learn how to say it and use our weapons and then we need to go into battle.
The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation. So, we need to learn how to say it. It is a weapon. What use is a soldier who cannot use the weapons he has been given. So, learn how to say the Gospel effectively and then put yourself in a position where you can use that weapon.
This does not need to take years as most believers think and you do not need to go off to bible school. Just write out the Gospel and memorise it, and then go and tell people.

That is great littleangelone. Keep doing that and ask God to give you are greater lover for the lost. A greater love for the lost is very important.
If we truly love our neighbour (everyone including strangers) as ourselves, then we would be telling them the Good News. That is, how they can be saved.
We ourselves know that we need to be saved and we want to be saved but often believers are too scared to tell strangers how to be saved. Love overcomes fear. So, pray for more love for the lost.
Here is an analogy of how love overcomes fear.
You would never go swimming in crocodile infested waters. In fact, you would call anyone crazy who did that. But if you heard a scream and then you turned around and saw your child in the water, you would not hesitate to jump in to save them. You would do anything to save them because you love them. And that is how we should feel about people who do not know the Lord. We should do anything to save them. So, ask God for more love towards the lost. Equip yourself and then go out there and do it.
This is what I do: The Great Chocolate Evangelizing trick - This works.
Also, speaking of love. If we truly love Christ, then we would obey him. And, he said, he commanded us, to go out and preach the Gospel to every creature. Not just our friends, but everyone. "The one who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me" John 14:21. So, because we love Christ, we will tell everyone the Good News.
If you do try the Chocolate Evangelizing Trick, let me know. I would be very interested to see how it goes for anyone who tries it.
