Jesus told mankind the good news (gospel) was the good news of the Kingdom of God, coming to take away authority of man over fellow man. Life as we know it would be reversed. See Sermon on the Mount. What many Christians today speak of with their grace doctrine was a part of that, not the other way around. But the grace way taught as the main principle today and for centuries which focuses on the afterlife rather than change/repentance required while still here, conveniently leaves out the Kingdom, which serves not God but the Adversary in doing so, because the Adversary has no place or control in the Kingdom.
The Ad wants to divert truth and keep us with feet planted in the world, not Kingdom. The Adversary manipulates all, even religion. We saw the prime example of that when the newly institutionalized and human sanctioned church rejected the Kingdom to rejoin the backwards world of man in partnership 1700 years ago. Before that there was no need of official doctrine or mediation by a human mind. It was already simply truth from God as Jesus once said. No need for human intervention with minds trained by the world to defend itself and assist in the diversions. Jesus opened the door closed by the original punishment of death. That was what was required of Him. But His message was the Kingdom. And it was that message that got Him killed (and still would today). The world still prefers it's own forms of leadership. Hence the diversions that can proclaim a doctrine that focuses on our greed in seeking salvation, yet distracts from the Kingdom itself.
