Yes I have read all of Sitchin's books. Quite interesting for sure. And controversial. I am not scholarly in reading the tablets so can only appeal to others to confirm his translations.
I get mixed messages on this. He has a lot of followers and a lot of folks who would debunk him. since I don't know I just keep his teachings on a back burner fior now. The cosmology is apparently pretty correct. The stories on the tablets are considered history by some and myths by others. Since they agree a lot with the vedas I would guess they are probably historic and likely true. Exciting suff.

Ok, here's some background. I was trying to get a Kindle book that was offered free, but was in Spanish (and my Spanish is rustier than Towmatter! ) and by go0gling it I came across this man. I think I've heard of him before, but did not continue on with research.

Here's a bio on him.

Zecharia Sitchin was born in the Azerbaijan SSR, but was raised in Mandatory Palestine. He received a degree in economics from the University of London, and was an editor and journalist in Israel, before moving to New York in 1952. While working as an executive for a shipping company, he taught himself Sumerian cuneiform and visited several archaeological sites.

Sitchin's books sold millions of copies worldwide and been published in more than 25 languages, as well as in braille.

These are those books:

Earth Chronicles volumes

  1. The 12th Planet, New York: Stein and Day, 1976
  2. The Stairway to Heaven, 1980, Avon Books (Bear & Company, 1992, ISBN 0-939680-89-0; Harper, 2007, ISBN 0-06-137920-4)
  3. The Wars of Gods and Men, 1985, Avon Books (Bear & Company, 1992, ISBN 0-939680-90-4)
  4. The Lost Realms, Avon Books, 1990, ISBN 0-380-75890-3
  5. When Time Began, 1993, (Harper, 2007, ISBN 0-06-137928-X, ISBN 978-0-06-137928-4)
  6. The Cosmic Code, Avon Books, 1998, ISBN 0-380-80157-4
  7. The End of Days: Armageddon and Prophecies of the Return, William Morrow, 2007, ISBN 978-0-06-123823-9
Companion volumes

  • Genesis Revisited: Is Modern Science Catching Up With Ancient Knowledge?, (Avon Books, 1990, ISBN 0-380-76159-9)
  • Divine Encounters: A Guide to Visions, Angels and Other Emissaries, Avon Books, 1995, ISBN 0-380-78076-3
  • The Lost Book of Enki: Memoirs and Prophecies of an Extraterrestrial god, Bear & Company, 2001, ISBN 1-59143-037-2
  • The Earth Chronicles Expeditions, Bear & Company, 2004, ISBN 978-1-59143-076-6
  • Journeys to the Mythical Past, Bear and Company, 2007 ISBN 978-1-59143-080-3
  • The Earth Chronicles Handbook, Bear & Company, 2009, ISBN 978-1-59143-101-5
  • There Were Giants Upon the Earth: Gods, Demigods, and Human Ancestry: The Evidence of Alien DNA, (Bear & Company), 2010, ISBN 978-1-59143-121-3
Some say he is another crazy Jew, but more say he is more in tune with historical evidence without blinders on. Take your pick.

Either way, there is an 'official website' devoted to his writings by his niece Janet Stichin that many may find interesting, especially when we get to the bi-annual topic around here about Genesis 6.

Just published and with advance sales exceeding all expectations, There Were Giants Upon the Earth is already shaping up as a media enigma: Is this a book for Religion or for Science review-editors? While firmly anchored in the biblical tale of the sons of the gods who married daughters of Man and had the heroic offspring before the Deluge "and thereafter too", the book flips the tale over to its Sumerian antecedents and identifies those demigods as actual participants in the saga of gods and men on Earth - all the way to our own time.

Ah, Lulav and Vissy! our resident googlers extraordinaire!! Many thanks.
That last book sounds like it could be interesting....I wonder how long we'll have to wait for it to go "free" for the Kindle? (If it's not too much, I might can wangle it even as a "purchase" eventually. Bills will be caught up after next month. Yea!!!)

His refuting reminds me of a heckler.
Then why did you post that link of a rebuff? That was from Mike Hesler's site, the same as Rachel posted.

Sitchin was Jewish and this guy basically calls him anti-Semitic and unknowledgable about his own Hebrew language.

Everyone has an agenda and some kind of belief system in place and when it comes to deciphering ancient texts these things cannot be set off to the side and the documents viewed unbiasedly.

I don't know who Mike Hesler is but Dr. Michael Heiser is a Hebrew scholar who just happens to disagree with Sitchen, as do most other scholars.
Sitchin is right up there with Von Daniken and other UN-godly teachers. He is anti-Semitic in his own way.

Also, if I remember correctly, Sitchin was born in Russia, raised in Palestine and educated in London, so I doubt that Hebrew is his native language.

I'm sorry.......I was just trying to give you some info, which is what you asked for!

It does kind of sound that way, but Heiser is a Hebrew scholar. And the whole ancient astronaut thing is un-godly.

Scholars normally state their position and let it be the refute. For a scholar to resort to insulting comments to belittle someone usually shows a lack of other resources to fall back on.

Not sure why you are getting in a snit, I was asking Visionary that question. :)

Early morning time, I'm not all here , I misspelled his name  Mike Heiser.

Sitchin was born in the Azerbaijan SSR, but was raised in Mandatory Palestine. He received a degree in economics from the University of London, and was an editor and journalist in Israel, before moving to New York in 1952.

I could be born in France and raised in the US and English my native language. I would think to be an editor and journalist in Israel you have to have a pretty strong grasp of the Hebrew language. But that's neither here nor there.
