Decided to change my sig.. I've stated for a while that sadism is a form of empathy. Happy to hear other people have similar ideas.
Still think the theme of the quote is similar to my previous quotes. One major problem I see in the feminist/SJW communities is hyper empathy. If you read more from Paul Bloom about why empathy isn't always a good thing. Empathy can lead to hyper focus on certain things to the exclusion of others. Therefore not bringing forth a larger picture of issues. Feminists focus on the poor damsel women and ignore the men (some more malicious about that than others..), black people avoid accountability for their actions.. etc.
There are studies that indicate the more one has empathy about something the more they're willing to harm others. Makes sense considering the more you feel for others the more emotional weight you can turn that into straight anger/sadism.
One of the reasons I laugh when the odd feminist tells me that women are more morally superior to men because they're more "empathetic".
