I have pretty much spent the last six years in isolation, but for a reason. I had distroyed my life and brain, and needed to completely focus on finding myself. It was wonderful being able to reach out all over the world and learn all I could about how other cultures live, and how God want's us to live. Then I came out wanting to share all I learned, but nobody cares about learning anymore. I want to teach, but their unteachable. I'm all dressed up and nowhere to go.
I don't know where you are, but here... Nobody talks to anybody, we live in a socialist society where society doesn't socialize. Where each person makes up their own meanings of words, and expect others to automatically understand them. Mind reading is expected ! And truth lost all boundaries, and people have become nothing more than resources to achieve whatever . I'm going back to studying, maybe learn Hebrew next, maybe write a book. Roman 8:28 and just have faith.

One time, while traveling to Hawaii alone,I did get irritated. At the Honolulu International Airport shuttle stop, while checking into my hotel, and while I was at a nice resturant in Maui, the staff kept asking me,"Oh!,are you here by yourself?" After being asked that for the third time,I just wanted to say,"Aughhhhhh!!!,Stop reminding me! I am here to have a great time. Please stop reminding me that I do not have anyone! Not everybody on this planet is part of a couple. I....... am........ not......a........FREAK!"[/quote]

Hey man been there !! I used to be a handyman. And talking to elderly customers, they would ask if I was married. That got them going, when I said no. I know they meant well, but they just didn't understand it made me feel like a FREAK!!! And unwanted.

Hi Aleinated,

I agree and sometimes have felt the same about society. Nobody likes to really to be personable and honest with anybody anymore. I do not like the way people interact with each other.

I went back and read your questions on original post, and you had asked "How many do you know like this"?

I see groups of people hanging together, so I just kind of ease in and listen 1st. And it doesn't take long to wonder if I should drug test them all ! They disrespect each other left and right, but they act like it's not only exceptable, but expected. I begin to wonder if they even listen to each other at all, or even the words that come out of there own mouths.

So I have concluded that they except on this, " Just to fit in, and not be alone" And that our kind are lonley because we won't compromise and lower the standards we have set, on how we are to be treated. (It's self respect, NOT self ego or esteem). These are the things that please God, Pslams 1 .

And maybe that's longsuffering ? Integrity and the bold, stand alone most of the time. Only the fool actually likes the spotlight in todays world, because it reflects the shallowness and fear of who they really are, to the ones with their eyes open.

I don't know if I'm right, but it makes me feel better. And I hopes that helps you. Thank you for your post, it made me know I'm not totaly alone. May God Bless You. live2dt.

Good comments. Yes, if you are honest and don't cheat or take advantage of people, you are considered a fool. If you are polite, you are wishy-washy or phony. I have heard young people talk in insulting ways. Well, they weren't taught any better. Their parents were not taught well and before that their grandparents probably were not taught much about behavior.

Our society is getting rude and crude. I have not owned a TV in years and try to avoid it but I might sometimes find myself somewhere where there is TV and it is inescapable and what I hear or see I might find shocking. And I am a 50 year old man and it's not like I have lived in a cave all that time. As far as I can tell, "comedy" is about people hurling fifth-grade level insults at each other. And violence is the solution to every problem. I could go on but I won't. But then there are a lot of children who are "educated" that way - their home might have no books, but there is television, probably often tuned to extremely violent or inappropriate contento movies, and violent video games and violent "music" that celebrates ugliness and hate. And then people wonder why things are so messed up.

Hey Doc

I agree with all you said, but here's the real question. What's to be done ?
It's kind of funny you and I got allot in common. I looked at your bio, I too study sciences, played classical guitar till I hurt my hand, I'm 47, and shut my cabletv off 8 months ago, where we split is I did go into a cave for about 5 years now. I kind of did what Solomon did in Ecc. but he didn't include God in it, I did, and my conclusion of the our purpose is 4 words. ( TO LOVE AND SERVE ).

And I have learned that words no longer have set meanings. To serve means self serve not others, to love means feeling ooshy gooshy not self sacrifice, pity means kill them not have mercy, empathy = pity not share their pain, truth means what you want not what it is, and I could go on and on but I won't.

And about being polite : God warned us of soft, slippery, forked, slimy, tounged that will lie to kill you. To me being polite is speaking the truth from your heart even if it hurts, keeping your word at all costs, fixing myself before others so I don't make them sick, and never tire at seeking opportunities to help others. And God gave us anger for a reason, it lets us stand to fight injustice's, and I don't believe it should be repressed to aviod conflict with evil.

I wish more would teach what being a real Christian really is, and less prosperity and happiness. A good day for a Christian in the first 3 centuries was Not getting decapitated, eaten, flogged, whipped, or eviscerated. So to answer my own question at the top.
We must learn to stand together as a true family of Christ, and to self sacrifice our want's for the needs of others, and teach ourselves courage instead of comfort. Because we have come full circle, and the wolves are at the door.

Hi Alienated! Well, a lot for us to cover! I guess in my Lutheran background it is so much taught that a Christian is to be in the world - in the thick of it - right in the midst of life. Some people think this is too worldly. Luther tried to be spiritual as a monk. He then became a reformer, and here he was preaching the Gospel to the unwashed masses instead of being a quiet, spiritual monk whose main concern was how to please God enough so he could earn his own salvation.

Do you see what happened here? As long as Luther's focus was Luther, he had reason to fear he was lost. Then his focus shifted from being inward to being outward. He realized he could not save himself and instead of Luther looking inward at Luther, he looked outward to what Christ had done. And then his focus became outward to other people, to bring them the Gospel rather than on inward "spiritual" self-perfection. Also, freed from a self-imposed perfectionism, Luther could take on additional "worldly" vocations like be a husband and a father.

That is not to say everyone should marry or have children. I am just saying that the idea that some vocations are to be despised because they are not "spiritual" enough is wrong. And you pointed out well that in order to serve others we must first come out of our "caves."

Yes. I had fallen into the trap of self perfectionism, it got me living in a treatment center for 2 1/2 years. But what I learned from it, is that growth comes from getting closer to God by serving his greatest creations. When we humble ourselves to serve others, it allows God to work through us, and His love pours out to others. And everything His living water touches grows.

I just can't seem to wrap my mind around how quick man has reverted in their knowledge, to a total state of ignorance. We live in a technological world, where information is availible at the push of a button. But we have lost all ability of active communication, and without that there can be no peace. So we invent death at the push of a button too.

I guess the best way of explaining how God worked with me. He filleted my heart open and showed me my selfishness, by showing me His generosity. And I'm still blown away !

I had totally distroyed my life, lost everything, including myself and sanity. I was like the demoniac living in the tombs. And He said go tell others what I've done for you.

You really should write a book about your experiences and your deliverance.

While I do enjoy doing things with people there are times, actually very many times lately, where I feel driven to seek out a degree of isolation for a period of time.

I don't live by myself, so I go out specifically to be "alone". Dinner at the bar of a restaurant, sitting in the park/solitary spot, ect. I've never actually gone to the movies alone but when I go out I am in search of some degree of peace and/or a chance at introspection or prayer.

That said there are people who get revived from being with other people, and perhaps it is not so much an issue with being seen alone or feeling out of place as much as doing the event alone will actually drain them of energy from the sheer lack of other people.

Hey DocI
thought about it, but I wish to do mission work. Ive seen and experianced things that most in America can't fathom. But its perpared me to walk into the worst of situations and not be shocked, so I can be effective. I've been to depths of Hell some demons won't go, despair that words can't define or describe. And books don't feed the hungry, bandaged the wounded, or stop the abuse, or visit the abandoned etc. The world doesn't need another book, it needs people actually helping people.

I want them to see the love in my eyes when I tell them " Jesus heard your cries like He heard mine, and He sent me to give you this. And actually give them what they need."
You see I tried to commit suicide 6 1/2 years ago by starvation, I have watched all of my family die off 1 by 1 in horrible ways, I been homeless, I have been insane, major brain damaged, and left for dead. BUT GOD loved me. No book can communicate that.

I think that is exactly what you should do...be a missionary. You have a passion that alot of people don't have and it sounds like God gave you that for a reason.:wave::clap::hug:

Thank You for the encouragement... But sadly I have contacted over 100 chrurches/ misionary org. only two have talked to and said they only draw out their own pool. Heres the kicker.
I offered to pay my own way, and I have a life insurance policy with no benificiary. So I would make what ever mission would give me work to do for life, would be my sole heir. They didn't care !

wow, over 100!

I did some short term missions with the Nazarenes. It was interesting that they were tougher on the mission field than they were in the states on some things. Like speaking in tongues. I spoke in tongues and could be a member in the US, but no of the mission field!

The true reason for my desire to do mission work, is not to teach, but to supply the needs. Because I know how it feels to cry out and no one show up. A bowl of food to a starving child, speaks love in all languages. And then I can share my personal story of the miracle's Christ can and will do.
The two org. said I would have to be indoctrinated,(plasticized) like them. I say that because none of all I contacted, could even say I'm sorry for your loss when I said my whole family is dead.

When God had proven His power and love to me, He asked me 3 questions.
1. Do you trust me now ?
2. Will you walk through fire to get to me ?
3. And will you be willing to give your life for someone you don't even know ?

And they couldn't even give me sympathy, or consideration. Makes me wonder just what message they are delivering ???
