I am continually amazed at what counts as strong moral character in Republican politicians.

Family Planning is the largest abortion provider in the Nation.  Is killing a child compassionate?

Tax Cuts for those who own stock-  52% of American own stock.

The rich get more of a tax cut because they pay most of the taxes. The richest top 1% pay 32% of the taxes.  AND when those "fat cats" get to keep more of their money via a tax cut, they invest, build factories, build new homes, buy boats etc etc.  This keeps the average american in jobs.

TRUE STORY-In the 1980's the congress thought they would get more taxes out of the rich by imposing an exise tax on luxury boats.  The result was that the rich bought their boats over-seas.  This caused a luxury boat factory in Conn.(I believe) to close down due to lack of sales. The acverage everyday workers lost their jobs due to the tax on luxury boats which was intended to get more from the rich.

As President Kennedy once said: "All boats rise in a rising tide."  When President Reagan gave us the largest tax cut in history, this spured economic growth and the tax revenues to the US Treasury doubled.

But the most important stance of the Republicans is their respect for life.  God creates life and no mother should snuff out the life of their own child.

    In Christ, Patrick

ps: You are correct that we need to guard our liberty carefully.

Character= No lies under oath (or otherwise) - No giving missle technology to the Chinese - No missing documents that magically appear in the first ladies library - No funny money stock schemes - no getting a "Monica" in the oval office - no retroactive tax increases - no firing of the travel office employees on trumped up charges - no sexual intimidation - No stealing of the opposite parties files from the FBI - No suspisous suicides of dozens of "witnesses of indiscression" - No charges of rape - No laundering of illegal contributions from foreigners - No clemency for Purto Rician terrorists - ad neausesm - I could go on and on and on and on but you get my point.

I admit that there are many instances that GWB may be "shooting from the hip", but at least you know that he is a good man.  His decisions seem to be based of a firm moral code rather than on the latest Gallop poll.  While I don't agree on everything he is doing (potential loss of liberty, and rushing to war) I have confidence in his ability to lead our country.

George Bush's inability to construct sentences, use reasoning, display any kind of debating skills whatsoever is not a speech impediment. i question how sound his mind is at all, and how effective he could be at running a country. and character doesnt run a country either, it might win the votes, but it doesnt help the state of the american economy.

and for that matter, nor does his economic plan. how ironic.

First of all, he has decent debating skills, enough to whip the pants off Gore during the debates. I really don't feel it's fair to judge a man's intelligence by his mistakes.

Secondly, the American economy could be revived by his economic plan, which has yet to be approved in any way by Congress.

Everyone here knows that you are the evil genius behind the disappearance of all those pens Gwyyn. Did you think we ouldn't notice that they rarely get used up before we need to find new ones. they have to be going somewhere, right? Yeah, that's right honey, and we know you're behind all of it. So, there'll bee no questions about your intelligence here, just tell us where my favorite calligraphy pen from Jr. High wound up, and we won't have to get ugly here.

no, im sorry, his debating skills leave much to be admired.

but youre right about judging on mistakes, which is why i also judge him on his actions and policies.
if it didnt work with Reagan, if it didnt work during the Depression, its not going to work now.

not only have i not read very many of your posts but the few i have i dont consider enough to judge your intelligence/reasoning. I also generally keep my character judgements to myself, however Bush is in charge of a country and he seems to me not to be capable of such a task.

However, when youre in charge of a country let me know. ;)

Did you watch the televised debates?

    Reaganomics worked.

If what didn't work? What are you talking about?

I see, so his economic plan doesn't work because you said so.

He seems to be doing an ok job by me. Maybe instead of general, baseless bashing, you could state exactly how he has been unable to perform his duties as President.

Just because a man says "Nukular" and screws up a few words now and then, has no effect on his ability to run.

NPR's Morning Edition program mentioned that W was going to use nukes in Iraq if Hussein doesn't do exactly what he wants. Wow, that's certainly justified.

Sorry to burst your bubble.  But, it DID work with Reagan.  Care to play the numbers game?  Or do you just want to cling to your anti-Republican ideology?

That is a lie. The closest thing he said to that was he reaffirmed the idea that the use of nuclear weapons hasn't been totally written off. This is a common thing to say, but no one ever does it.

There is a huge difference between saying "I will use nuclear weapons" and "I am leaving that possibility open".

There are reasons for doing this, one might be to let Saddam know if he uses nuclear weapons, the US has the right to strike back. Saying you won't use nuclear weapons gives Saddam the ability to attack with nukes with no punishment for it. Another might be to leave the possible use of smaller, more tactical nukes open.
