ALL of my sins, past, present and future have already been forgiven.

Above you quoted 1 John 1:9. Fine and dandy, but, you didn't quote verse 7. " 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from ALL sin." I see "all" sin as past present and future.
Notice that - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness (vs. 9) is IN CONTRAST TO - If we say that we have no sin, (present tense) we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us (vs. 8) and - If we say that we have not sinned, (past tense) we make him a liar, and his word is not in us (vs. 10).

Some people misunderstand verse 9 to mean that we "must confess each and every sin that we commit as we commit them" (keep a specific inventory) as an "additional requirement" to "remain cleansed" and "if we overlook or forget a sin we are toast!" Believers speak the same/acknowledge/agree with God's perspective about their sins and have a settled recognition and acknowledgment that one is a sinner in need of cleansing and forgiveness.

1 John 1:6 - If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from ALL sin. *Walking in darkness is descriptive of children of the devil. *Walking in the light is descriptive of children of God. *Only those who are saved/believers are in the light.

Acts 26:18 - to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Ephesians 5:8 - for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light. Children of the devil walk in darkness, not in the light. Children of God walk in the light, not in darkness. *IF confirms these positions in verses 6 and 7. It's one or the other.

In 1 John 2:9, we read - He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. In vs. 11 - But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

*Compare with 1 John 3:10 - In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, (compare with 1 John 1:6 - does not practice the truth) nor is he who does not love his brother. *Notice that "walks in darkness, hates his brother" is connected to "children of the devil."

Scripture harmonizes with Scripture.

I hope you don't mind if I disagree with you.

There is the repentance of salvation which happen when people are regenerated. Their position is "saved".

As saved people we still sin. Should we repent and confess those sins? Of course...BUT...the reason we do is not to maintain salvation but rather to restore a relationship WE bruised.

You're theological problem is, what if I forget to confess a sin(s)? What if I keep repeating a sin? Your theology teaches you may not get into heaven.

As posted in the first post to you brother, JESUS has made provision for all sin, past, present and future through His sacrifice and death on the cross on our behalf.

1 JOHN 1:7 does not contradict or cancel out 1 JOHN 1:9 it is in harmony with it.

Let's look at the complete context..

1 JOHN 1:5-10
[5], This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
[6], If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
[7], But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleans us from all sin.

Scripture here is saying that if we walk in the truth of God's Word then we have fellowship with JESUS and one another as God's children. It we BELIEVE and FOLLOW what God's Word says v7 the blood of JESUS Christ his son CLEANSES US from ALL SIN.

[8], If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

We do not become sinless when we become born again we are forgiven of past sins *ROMANS 3:25. Now we are to grow in God's GRACE as new borns and NEW Christian believers. There are two categories of sin according to God's Word. 1 KNOWN SIN the sins that we know about that are sin and 2 UNKNOWN sin those things that may be in our lives that we no not as yet know are sin because we do not have the knowledge of what that sin maybe. *JAMES 4:17. When God gives us a knowledge when of the truth or what may be sin he expects us to REPENT and BELIEVE His WORD and FOLLOW it *ACTS 17:30-31. There fore as the scripture says; IN TIMES OF IGNORANCE (when we do not have a knowledge of the truth) God winks at (we are not accountable) BUT when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has been given us, God calls all men everywhere to REPENT *ACTS 17:30-31.

REPENTANCE and CONFESSION of PRESENT and FUTURE SINS is a part of Sanctification. This is a work of a lifetime. It we continue in KNOWN UNREPENTANT sin then we are still in our sins and are not in a saved state before God because we reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23; HEBREWS 10:26-27.

[9], If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This is the CONDITION of receiving God's FORGIVENESS; Past; present and future and agrees with v7 that states the BLOOD of JESUS CHRIST His Son CLEANSES US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. Note here brother that FORGIVENESS (past, present and future) is condtional on REPENTANCE and CONFESSION when SIN happens.

[10], If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Note have sinned is talking about past sins committed in the "present tense" This means the application is that every time we have sinned (always past) then we are to REPENT AND CONFESS of these sins. The application is thoughout our life (Sanctification).

............

According to God's Word the difference between the children of God and the children of the devil is that the children of God do not practice KNOWN sin or sins that they KNOW are sin. The children of God have their sins forgiven and have been cleansed from their sins through repentance and confession of sin and Faith in God's Word *1 JOHN 1:9.

The reason we need to be Born again is because we sin and cannot stop sinning. Those who are born of God and are God's children do not practice sin. The blood of JESUS Chrsit does indeed cleanse us from all sin as 1 JOHN 1:7 says as Christs sacrifice for sin has made provision for all sin. However, this provision based on REPENTANCE, CONFESSION and FAITH.

ROMANS 3:25
Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS THAT ARE PAST, through the forbearance of God.

1 JOHN 3:3-10
[3], And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
[4], Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
[5], And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
[6], Whoever abides in him sins not: whoever sins has not seen him, neither known him.
[7], Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
[8], He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
[9], Whoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
[10], In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.

1 JOHN 2:3-4
[3], And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
[4], He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Context..

1 JOHN 2:1
[1], My little children, these things write I to you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

According to God's Word FORGIVENESS of sin (past, present and future) is conditional on REPENTANCE and CONFESSION of sin after sin happens. All those who continue in known unrepentant sin without REPENTANCE AND CONFESSION will not enter the kingdom of Heaven because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.

God bless

Notice here "BELIEVES" or "BELIEVERS" is always in the "PRESENT TENSE". All God's promises through his Word is always in the "PRESENT TENSE" of BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God's Word. All those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD in the "PRESENT TENSE" have God's forgivness and salvation. Something to pray about.

Actually brother the scriptures posted to you were only provided in love and as a help to you. They are God's Word not mine. You are free to believe as you wish as we all answer only to God come judgment day, but why make allegations you cannot prove from the scriptures? If only God's Word has been shared with you then why do you not believe it and claim I am twisting scripture? Only God's Word is true and we should believe and follow it over the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God *ROMANS 3:4. According to God's Word all those who continue in known unrepentant sin will not enter the kingdom of heaven because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23. Something to pray about. No, I am NOT at all ... because:
... when I repent of my sin,
Jesus' blood cleanses me of all my sin!

Don't you believe 1 John 1:9
Not a word of "repentance" in 1 Jn 1:9. This poster continues to misread Scripture.

One MUST CONFESS their sin for forgiveness and cleansing.

God is not disappointed in those who do not prove their love for Him (in various ways)?
Art thou serious, or art thou pulling my leg?
Witch 'tis it?
Gotto go, servant.

I'm serious. Jesus said "it's not what goes into a man that defiles a man, but what comes out of a man, this defiles a man" - in other words your religion is irrelevant to others, but the religion of keeping yourself clean (by distinction to just religion on its own) is very much relevant to you.

This is what it means when it says "they shall all be taught by God", God will relate to us on the basis of how clean we keep the inside of the cup (for if that is clean, so will the outside be).

I see sanctification as a process. But, regeneration is step 1. Step one you're saved, justified.
Amen! Where justification is a legal declaration that is instantaneous and is based on faith (Romans 5:1) ongoing sanctification is a lifelong process.

Sanctification is a lifelong process, yes. Justification is a declaration, not a process. And salvation involves 3 tenses.

past tense: we have been saved from the penalty of sin. Justification. John 5:24
present tense: we are being saved from the power of sin. Sanctification. Phil 2:12
future tense: we will be saved from the presence of sin. Glorification.
Amen! Well said. Yet those who promote works salvation erroneously teach that justification is a process.

Here is what the Bible says:
Rom 5:1 - Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Rom 5:9 - Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
Amen! Therefore, having been (past tense, with ongoing present results) justified by faith.. Also - Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace you have been (past tense, with ongoing present results) saved through faith.. Faith that does not continue to the end was never firmly rooted and established from the start. Authentic faith continues and is not some shallow, temporary belief that has no root, produces no fruit and withers away.

Romans 8:30 - Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. *ALL of them. *Notice how Paul uses the past tense for a future event to stress it's certainty. Those who are not glorified in the end were never justified from the beginning.

No, we're justified WHEN we are saved. Which is when we believe in Christ.
Amen!

Clearly, this verse refers to the future tense of salvation.
Amen! Those who teach works salvation and turn justification into a process confuse the three tenses of salvation (justification, sanctification, glorification)

Regarding this so-called "disastrous grace-only" doctrine, please explain the gospel by which you were saved.

Paul was very concerned by the fact that the Galatian believers had switched to "another gospel", which was really NO GOSPEL AT ALL.

Galatians 1
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel
7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

This applies directly to your so-called 'gospel'.

Any system that adds to God's grace is NO GOSPEL AT ALL.
You hit the nail on the head! ;)

Eph 2-
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Where is the verse that says we are saved by a combination of grace and works?

Now, that would be a DIFFERENT GOSPEL, for sure.
Amen! That salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works (Ephesians 2:8,9) is not hard to understand. It's just hard for works-salvationists (who pervert the gospel) to ACCEPT. It's a shame that human pride will not allow works-salvationists to place their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Their hands are full of their works and they will not let go in order to receive Christ through faith. :(

Perverting the gospel by teaching salvation by "grace plus law, faith plus works" (Galatians 1:6-9) is neither believing or following God's Word in the present tense or to the end.

Something to pray about.

“Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to (eternal) death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living … Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy.” (Romans 6:16-19, NLT)
There is a contrast here between servants/slaves. There are only two kinds of servants/slaves in this world, in the spiritual sense; servants/slaves of sin unto death, or servants/slaves of obedience unto righteousness. When we place our faith exclusively in Jesus Christ for salvation/believe the gospel by trusting in His finished work of redemption as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation, we then become "servants of obedience unto righteousness."

Being slaves of sin is put in the past tense. *Paul goes on in Romans 6:18 - "You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."

Notice in Romans 10:10 - For with the heart one believes unto righteousness..

Notice in Romans 4:5 - But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith (not works) is accounted for righteousness.

"... for those who are not holy
will not see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14, NLT)
Hebrews 12:14 - Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. *The NASB reads - Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.

To be "sanctified" is to be "set apart, made holy." Without justification, there is no sanctification. Those who have been justified by faith are also sanctified/set apart/made holy before God positionally in Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:11 - Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

Yet we also have progressive or ongoing sanctification in which the reality of that holiness becomes more and more evident in our actions, words, thoughts, attitudes, and motives. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, - For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain (present tense) from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.

So becoming washed, sanctified and justified in Christ is a one time event, yet abstaining from sexual immorality is not a one time event. The believer possess a positional, judicial standing of righteousness in Christ, which is not to be confused with the ongoing process of progressive holiness, in regards to our ongoing sanctification.

Matthew 22:37-38
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the first and great commandment.”

We actually must PROVE our LOVE for the LORD …

1 John 2:5, NLT
Those who obey God’s word truly show
how completely they love Him. That is how
we know we are living in Him.”

BACs who have “no condemnation” are “in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).

1 John 5:3, NLT
Loving God means keeping His commandments,
and His commandments are not burdensome.”

John 14:15-24
If you love Me, obey My commandments
… He who has My commandments and obeys them, it is he who loves Me
… If anyone loves Me, he will obey My word
… He who does NOT love Me
does NOT obey My words”

Does anyone get to heaven who does NOT love Jesus?
Those who love Jesus will obey His commandments!

IF you PROVE that you LOVE Jesus, then you have
met one of the qualifications for salvation …

Romans 8:28-30
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”

Another way to PROVE your LOVE for the LORD …

James 1:12-15
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation;
for when he has been approved, he will receive
the crown of life which the Lord has promised to
those who love Him … But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived,
it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”

Love Jesus >>> endure temptation >>>
do not sin >>> crown of (eternal) life

John 15:9-14
“… abide in My love.
If you obey My commandments,
you will abide in My love
… You are My friends,
if you do whatever I command you.”

Those who are Jesus’ friends will obey His commandments!
Does anyone get to heaven who is NOT Jesus’ friend?

John 15:6
“If anyone does NOT abide in Me,
he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.”

I do agree that our works are proof of our love but I also believe our love will evince itself if it is genuine. It’s not so much something we try to do but something we are compelled to do. At least that’s how I feel about it.

Perverting the gospel by teaching salvation by "grace plus law, faith plus works" (Galatians 1:6-9) is neither believing or following God's Word in the present tense or to the end. Something to pray about.

Great let's discuss your claims. Where have I ever posted here that we are saved by grace plus works? If I have never posted anywhere that we are saved by grace plus works why are you making false claims that I have? If I have never said such things why do you pretend that I have? Now as to your claims let's make this perfectly clear what it is that I believe then we can continue.

OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50. We are saved by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God *EPHESIANS 2:8.

Now why do you pretend that I am saying something that I am not? If I am not saying what you are claiming then why pretend that I am?

I asked you some questions earlier in another post somewhere that you declined to answer in relation to God's LAW (10 Commandments) and the gospel. How can you separate God's LAW from the cross when it is the law that leads us there? How can you separate faith and works when works is the fruit of faith? How can you separate love from Law when God's LAW is how love is expressed as a fruit of faith?

Look forward to your reply if your not able to respond maybe you can pray about it ;)

It’s so sad that so many people resort to misrepresenting others intentions. I see this almost every time this topic comes up and it just seems like such a deceptive tactic of false representation in an attempt to discredit a person to make their argument invalid. I often wonder if this is done out of ignorance or intentionally. Sometimes it’s hard to tell.

God bless

Confession is not necessary but it is encouraged. Nowhere does it say that unconfessed sins will not be forgiven.

It's not a false claim. Here is a statement that you once made to me below:

The counterfeit Gospel is out there. What is the other Gospel? It is a Gospel that tries to separate God's Law (10 commandments) from the Cross. It is a Gospel that tries to separate God's 10 commandments from the plan of salvation. God’s Law has always been part of the true Gospel of Christ. The counterfeit Gospel does not have it. God's forever Law (the 10 commandments) is the foundation of both the Old and the New Covenant and the very foundation and basis of the true Gospel of Christ.

That statement above says it all and there is nothing left to discuss. Multiple people (including myself) have already spent a lot of time providing you with detailed scriptural proof of the truth of the gospel found in God's Word, yet you will accept none of it and instead, continue to copy and paste the same list of out of context scripture references with the same insistence that only you are right and the rest of us are wrong. I've heard other people quote Ephesians 2:8 as well and claim they agree that we are saved by grace through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God out of one side of their mouth, then turn around and say something to contradict themselves out of the other side of their mouth.

God's WORD however only teaches that it is those who ENDURE temptation BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God's WORD to the END that receive the gift of eternal life.

Something to pray about.
Then why don't you follow Gods word?

God's Sheep hear His Voice (the Word of God).
What do you do with your unrepentant sin?
