Luke 7:27-30 27This is the one about whom it is written: "'I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.' 28I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he." 29(All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus' words,
acknowledged that God's way was right,
because they had been baptized by John. 30But the Pharisees and the experts in the law
rejected God's purpose for themselves,
because they had not been baptized by John.)
something about the repentance granted them belief.
Luke 5:31-32 31Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to
repentance."
Luke 24:46-48 46He told them, "This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and
repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name

2 Timothy 2:24-26 24And the LORD's servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them

to do his will.
trust and obey. they go hand in hand. faith without works is dead, but lack of faith can cause one to stumble, if you do not believe that God can perform what He said, you might not do what He asked you to do because of fear and/or doubt.
if you try to be justified by your the law, you fall short of grace, but if you say you believe and do not obey, you are not professing Jesus as Lord. which is a condition of salvation. He must be your Lord. you must have allegiance to Him, to God, not to satan and sin. if you are a servant of sin, you are a slave to it, if you are a servant of God, you are a slave to righteousness, and you can not sin, for God's seed is in you. the point is a clean conscience, a pure heart, being obedient from the heart. it is God who saves you, God who gives you faith, God who works in you to will and to work for His good pleasure, and we need to be obedient to Him. anyone who is His knows the feeling they get whenever they sin, that it is wrong. I don't want to continue in rebellion against my God, with the excuse of, He will forgive me.
