Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Yemen where gunmen have killed at least 16 people in an attack on a Christian care home.

The home in Aden is run by a Christian charity and the attackers seemed to target its staff rather than its elderly and disabled residents.

The dead include four missionaries – two from Rwanda, one from India and one from Kenya – and several other workers, including at least five from Ethiopia. The whereabouts of the Indian pastor based at the home are unknown and are a cause for concern.

The Yemeni capital, Aden, was recaptured from Houthi militants by forces loyal to President Hadi last July, but the country is still in the grip of lawlessness and conflict. Extremist groups such as Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula remain at large.
  • Please pray that Jesus, our Comforter and our Healer, will be with the friends and relatives of those who have been murdered.
  • Pray that God will touch the hearts of the gunmen and lead them to repentance and new life in Him.
  • Ask God to protect our brothers and sisters in Yemen who are at great risk of intense persecution, especially from Islamist extremists.

UPDATE:
Please pray for our Chinese brother Gu ‘Joseph’ Yuese, who has been stripped of his titles and status by officials in Zhejiang province. Pastor Gu was senior pastor of Chongyi Church in Hangzhou, the largest state-sanctioned Three-Self Patriotic Movement church in the country. He has been ousted from his post as chairman of the local China Christian Council and had his status as an officially approved pastor revoked. Gu has been charged with ‘embezzlement’ (Prayer Alert, February 10): local Christians believe he is being persecuted for speaking out against cross removals and church demolitions in Zhejiang. Please forward this to Christian friends so that they can pray and act too.
