  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.
  7. There has been an addition to the announcement regarding unacceptable nick names. The phrase "Let's go Brandon" actually stands for a profanity and will be seen as a violation of the profanity rule in the future.

Yahshua is our Messiah's name

Jeremiah is referring to himself, in that passage. It is eisegesis to simply Christianise a Tanach passage, assuming that because the same, or similar, words are found in the Christian Testament, they simply must refer to that Testament as interchangeable texts. The plotting to kill was to silence this man who was making them so uncomfortable, as the Priest and Prophet in their midst.

    John 15:2
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

    Jeremiah 11
16 The Lord called you a thriving olive tree
    with fruit beautiful in form.
But with the roar of a mighty storm
he will set it on fire,
and its branches will be broken.

Anathoth is the name of one of the Levitical cities given to "the children of Aaron" in the tribe of Benjamin.

    Jeremiah 11
21 Therefore this is what the Lord says about the people of Anathoth who are threatening to kill you, saying, “Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord or you will die by our hands”— 22 therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says: “I will punish them. Their young men will die by the sword, their sons and daughters by famine. 23 Not even a remnant will be left to them, because I will bring disaster on the people of Anathoth in the year of their punishment.”

In what year did the people die of a great famine? When were the people of Israel also destroyed?

This thread has taken a huge turn from eisegetical, personal interpretation of established linguistics to eisegetical, personal interpretation of prophesy, and CherubRam will not accept correction.

I'm not sure what else can be done.

So Jeremiah borrowed the words of Isaiah to complain to G_d. No great problem there.
Anathoth's glory did dwindle and its reputation slumped. The prophet Isaiah foretells the horrors that would befall Anathoth (Isaiah 10:30), and Jeremiah relates a message of revenge and slaughter from G_d aimed at the men of Anathoth who planned to assassinate him. G_d tells that "a remnant will not be left to them, for I will bring disaster on the men of Anathoth". However, both Ezra and Nehemiah count 128 men whose families originated in Anathoth and who made the journey back from the exile in Babylon (Ezra 2:23, Nehemiah 7:37). Nehemiah, also reports that an untold number of Benjaminites (not Levites) lived in Anathoth after the return (Nehemiah 11:32).

I am amazed at how people will follow David Koresh, and yet disregard almost everything I say.

David Koresh was the American leader of the Branch Davidians religious cult.

Not at all - you got the other bits totally wrong, so you tell me your continuing 'translation' of events. I can't wait to see what they are. :)

The siege of Masada by troops of the Roman Empire at the end of the First Jewish–Roman War ended in the mass suicide of 960 people.

The Jewish–Roman wars were a series of large-scale revolts by the Jews against the Roman Empire between 66 and 136 CE.

Josephus claims that over 1,100,000 people died during the initial siege of Israel.

    Jeremiah 11

Your proofs that I am wrong have been lacking. And then you ignore scholarly text quotes I present.
So far you have been nothing more than a naysayer.

I'm someone who can read and write the languages in question, so I know when you've misapplied their features. I've shown how you've mis-read the texts you quote out of context, do not understand, and often leave unsourced.

Of course I'm going to say "you're wrong" when you're objectively wrong.

You can't even read a simple sentence in Hebrew or Aramaic, let alone parse its grammar.

Your modern Hebrew grammar terms applied to ancient Hebrew is a Joke. How come you can not get it that the Rabbi's changed the language? You need to do a study on Theophoric Biblical name changes. Theophoric name - Wikipedia

However, the name Judah (Yehūdah) is not an example. The name Judah, comes from the root word Yadah = Yud-Dalet-Hey, which means "praise". The letter Yud is also a prefix pronoun in Hebrew, thus not every name or word beginning with Yud or Yud-Hey is theophoric.

In the table below, 13 theophoric names with "Yeho" have corresponding forms where the letters eh have been omitted. There is a theory by Christian Ginsburg that this is due to Hebrew scribes omitting the "h", changing Jeho (יְהוֹ‬) into Jo (יוֹ‬), to make the start of "Yeho-" names not sound like an attempt to pronounce the Divine Name.

Even this above mentioned chart has been corrupted by modern day Hebrew scholars like you.

Most all scholars agree that the first name of God is Yah.

    • How many years have you studied?
    • How many degrees have you attained and when?
    • From what institutions?
    • If I were to give you an arbitrary Theophoric name, could you translate it for me?

If after making similar demands of my experience, asking you important questions about your experience is an attack, then turnabout is fair play.

Why not simply answer the questions and turn them moot?

    What are your answers?
