    Would you Go In?

    It is Sunday Morning.

You enter into your church as usual.

However, when you go thru the door you know there is something tremendously different from the other Sunday's.

There is a "Holy Hush" over everyone.

Even the children are sitting in their seats quite, not moving.

No one is talking, laughing or getting up to go to the rest room.

The Pastor comes out and says that Jesus himself is in the Pastors study.

Everyone will have the opportunity to enter into His Presence, and spend 15 minutes. You can ask Him anything you like.

Your time approaches. You think of what you want to ask.

The thought comes "are you worthy" to enter into His very presence in the Pastors study.

Will you go in and talk to Him.

Or bow your head, declare you are not worthy and back out of His presence?

No I wouldn't even stay in the church.
Jesus says that when He returns, we'll know.
He won't be hidden in a closed corner office.

Yeah - but this is only a "what if" situation. Ok, it WON'T happen, but just imagine the possibility of meeting Jesus in the flesh for 15 minutes. Just being able to see your Saviour for a short time.

WOW! Yes I'd go in. Of course I wouldn't be worthy, I've never been worthy, but I didn't have to be before he died for me.

The scenario you offer here doesn't fit - it sounds more like a queue outside the head master's office to me - all quiet and well behaved, solemnity, stillness, even shame is hinted at.

I think if Jesus was in the house there would be some LIFE going on, and those little kids would be the first to go running to Him in delightful, noisy celebration!

Sorry but this sounds so British - "Please form an orderly queue folks!"

The scenario presented doesn't offer much information. BUT based as is...There is no way I would bite into what was being said! I think it is ridiculous for anyone to think that saying that would stir any hearts and minds toward God but only point them to hype and power of suggestion. I take Jesus with me every where I go by HIS SPIRIT! I don't need to announce it either.

I don't have to go in - He comes in with me.

I live in His Presence 24/7 and can ask Him anything I want, any time I want.

    And I do!

Yes, I would go into the church. Then, I would walk up to the front of the church, open up my Bible to Mark 13 and start preaching from the following text:

I'd rebuke the pastor and all of the sign seekers for not testing this spirit in light of the word of God, as God has COMMANDED them to and then I would plead with the pastor and the people in the church to repent.

Then I would come back to ChristianForums and sign on to the Spirit Filled forum to listen to everyone tell me what a legalistic Pharisee I am.

Actually, this analogy lacks something very important. Christ is already with me and in me 24/7/365, He has promised never to never leave me or forsake me; to be with me forever, even to the end of the age. I do not have to “go” somehwre to be in His presence. In fact, I do not have to “feel” something to be in His presence. I am never out of His presence. I do not have to “struggle” to be in His presence.

Maybe we just need to be conscious of His presence, just as the unsuspecting disciples on the road to Emmaus finally became aware of Him when He broke the bread for them.

Mike, you're right, but you know something?
You could express truth in a less hostile manner and more folks here would be able to receive it from you.
You have a lot of truth in you and a heart to share God, but the prickly exterior might prevent some of us lingering too long in your posts.

See now, that's just unecessary! You are practically begging someone to do that!

Maybe I take forum life too seriously - maybe this "attitude" is just you having a laugh?

First of all, I didn't say anything "hostile".

Second, it has nothing to do with how I present it. This is where sound doctrine comes to die and the people here love their pet doctrines more than they love the truth.

I post on a total of four message boards. As far as I know, I post the same way on all of them. Funny, but I've never been attacked on any of those, but am constantly attacked here.

If it were a matter of my posting style, then it would be safe to say that I'd be attacked on the other boards, as well

They're going to do it whether I ask them to or not.

I suppose I was thinking "I'd rebuke the pastor" was harsh. I'm just too soft I guess.

    I apologise for criticising you.

So you're telling me that you wouldn't rebuke him for teaching such a heretical thing?

Let's say that there was a spirit masquerading as Jesus sitting in his office. Are you really telling me that you wouldn't rebuke him for showing no discernment and potentially putting the people in his congregation in danger?

That doesn't make you compassionate or "soft". That makes you complicit.

I have a spine thank you Mike, you'd be surprised at the things I stand for in a place and among people who don't know Christ.

My approach is a little different. I would speak to the pastor, in fact have done so on occasions, then leave the Holy Spirit to work on them, I would also attempt to advise others to prevent their being led astray, but a "rebuke" is not mine to administer.

Meanwhile, he's deceiving the people in his congregation and potentially putting them into spiritual danger.
