State Dismisses 'John 3:16' Vanity Plate Complaint
[font=verdana, arial, geneva]OLYMPIA - A Tacoma woman will be able to keep her license plate after all. Tuesday, the Department of Licensing's Personalized Plate Review Committee dismissed a complaint against Jane Milhans' vanity plate with the message "JOHN 3:16."
A Pierce County woman filed the complaint in April, saying she was offender that she had to be 'prayed over' by a license plate.
The complaint triggered a routine review process the department conducts whenever a complaint is received.
"This was just a routine, procedural review required by policy," DOL Director Liz Luce said. "The plate is not offensive under our rules and was never in danger of being canceled."
