While recounting our lives before we accepted Jesus or simply discussing sin, we point out a short list of common sinful acts; Adultery, substance abuse, swearing and so on. We overlook and omit however, the more far-reaching and widespread acts of sin. I believe that we bury sins of the heart deep inside and refuse to come to terms with them.

Hatred towards those who have treated us badly or unfairly, resentment towards a sibling, emotional neglect of our families and disguist at entire groups of people to name a few. A few more; manipulating others, indifference to the suffering of others and vile gossip.

Who wants to admit/realize just how intensely wicked we are? That said, it doesn't surprise me that ministers and study leaders tend to squander so much opportunity to help themselves and others become better disciples.

It definitely is a good thing to see clearly the pit which we were rescued from, it is a good antidote to prevent us from 'going Pharisee' on others.

Don't become the monster. Turn it around and help those with the same problems as you, because you have experience in fixing it!
