Trump is strengthening America. One would think that Putin would support a candidate that would weaken America. What's going on here?

It's more subtle than that, it's if Putin backs Trump, people will be more likely to not vote for him, because in their hearts they truly believe all the lies spread over the last 3 yrs by the Democrats.

Firstly, Trump isn't strengthening America.

And others have an absolute opposite view. And how does not a strong economy strengthen America? Is the economy stronger now than it was with Obama? Honesty now.

He has weakened NATO and alienated our traditional allies.

Many guns America is stronk. Well if you were a clan of Orcs in warhammer 40K that would probably be true.

However what Trump is doing is eroding the public trust in science, expert diplomats, enviromental experts and whatever institutions that come forward to question his abuse of power or other decisions.

His rhetoric deepends the cracks between American public pitting them against each others and enflaming the issues. He erodes years of diplomatic work on US diplomacy for quick "victories" on Fox news.

Legitimacy of the government and it`s institutions and the trust it`s citizens have for it are not something to take for granted nor discarded slightly yet that is precisely what Trump has done.

His priority is his wealth, his family , his judgement , his allies all the other objectives are incidental or opposed to that.

He might be allocating more funds for the military but your country is getting weaker in every meaningfull term of the word.

It is easier to crank out F35`s in a hurry, it is much harder to get public trust your degraded institutions, politicians, international relations, infrastructure, eroded influence in the world or to heal the deep divide between your people that Trump needs to thrive.

Putin is not stupid, he knows this , which is a good reason to give Trump four more years to wreck US and it`s influence, allies and trust to it`s leadership and political infrastructure.

As Sanders announced yesterday, he was briefed last month the Russians favored him as well. Who Russia is really beside the point.

The real question is how many Americans will fall for Russia's propaganda? How many posters on these very threads will repeat information planted by the Russians?

Because he's causing havoc. He's too stubborn and self-centred to trust the expertise of those around him.
